regular basis for important announcements, team project information, and PowerPoint slides.
Academic Resource Center The Camner Academic Resource Center assists University students
by providing recognized procedures for assuring that students with disabilities have equal
access to University courses and programs. The Academic Resource Center is located at 1307
Stanford Drive in the Student Services Building, https://camnercenter.miami.edu/.
Student Accommodations / Disability
All students seeking accommodations for a disability must register with the Office of Disability
Services (ODS). Students should register as soon as possible so that the office has sufficient
time to receive and review the necessary documentation and coordinate reasonable
accommodations. Accommodations will not be for students who are not register or who do not
present this letter. The accommodations letter must be presented to the instructor at the
beginning of the semester, during office hours, and a minimum of two weeks prior to the
desired use of the accommodation. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the
instructor to coordinate the details of all accommodations. The instructor will then work with
ODS to determine the best way to accommodate the student for that course. Students should
not assume that they will be accommodated in exactly the same manner for every course.
Students may speak with the instructor or contact Accessibility Resources at (305) 284-2374 or
https://camnercenter.miami.edu/disability-services/ for more information about receiving
classroom accommodations. Service Dogs are allowed on campus and in classrooms; however,
Emotional Support Animals (ESA) are not allowed in the classroom settings.
Well-Being Resources and Support As you complete your coursework, consider how you can
maintain your health and well-being as a top priority. To help you become familiar with the
many programs and services available on campus, review the information collected on the
Division of Student Affairs Student Well-Being and Resiliency website available at
miami.edu/well-being. Please reach out to any of the resources listed on that site if you need
assistance or support throughout the semester.
Mental Health Mental health concerns or stressful events (e.g., a global pandemic) may lead to
diminished academic performance or reduce your student’s ability to participate in daily
activities. Free, easily accessible, confidential mental health services are available to assist the
student with addressing these and other concerns they may be experiencing. You can learn
2
more about the broad range of mental health services available on campus at the Counseling
Center website: counseling.studentaffairs.miami.edu.
Progress Reports Faculty are required by the University of Miami Faculty Handbook to submit
Progress Reports for all students enrolled in their course. Faculty will receive alerts for how and
when to submit these reports. Please communicate with your professor if you are indicated as
“at risk” on your Academic Progress Report.
Academic Integrity Academic dishonesty in any form is not tolerated. This policy is required to
encourage consistent ethical behavior among students and to foster a climate of fair
competition. Personal integrity is a quality that is expected and respected at the University of
Miami. Consequently, the Undergraduate Student Honor Code in is force at all times. Students
are responsible for reading, understanding, and upholding the Honor Code which is available at
https://doso.studentaffairs.miami.edu/units/undergraduate-honor-council/honorcode/index.html.
A student’s academic conduct must be beyond reproach at all times.
Late Submission of Assignments: Late projects will either not be accepted or will incur a grade
penalty unless they are due to documented serious illness or a family emergency. Professors
will make exceptions to this policy for reasons of religious observance or civic obligations, only
when the assignment cannot reasonably be completed prior to the due date and the student
makes arrangements for later submission with the professor in advance.
Collaboration on Graded Assignments: Students may not work together on graded
assignments unless the professor gives express permission or explicitly indicated on the course
syllabus.
Dropping the Course: The policy for withdrawing from a course is dictated by the University.
Any student who has not dropped by the official date will receive a grade for the course. If you
wish to withdraw from the course, you must officially drop the course; if you just stop attending
class, you will receive a failing grade.
Incompletes: The Incomplete (I) grade will be recorded only when a student is unable to
complete the course for a verifiable non-academic reason (such as an accident or illness that
confines the student to the hospital). An Incomplete will not be given when a student is failing
the course or when a student wishes to repeat the course. Both the professor and the
Department Chair must approve all incomplete grades in advance.

Assignments
Every week you need to complete a quiz associated with the book chapter assigned for the
week (Smart Book Chapter Assignments). Each quiz carries 20 points.
In Class Assignments
In every class we will be applying the theory using company examples. We will be using
breakout rooms if we are holding class online or breaking out within the classroom for
discussion.
Lecture Notes
Every chapter is associated with two sets of lecture notes; one covering theory and the other
applications of the theory (see Blackboard Tab: Lecture Notes). Both sets of lecture notes are
for you to review. In class, we will be focusing on class discussion and reinforcing the concepts
presented in the lecture notes.
Team Project
The Team Project (you will be assigned a team and a company on the first day of class) will be
broken up into 6 deliverables. The 7th deliverable is the completed team project. You still need
to submit a complete report (you can make changes based on my feedback on Deliverables 1-6)
as well as deliver a presentation during our last 3 class sessions.
Use of Zoom
You will be logging onto Zoom even if you are in the classroom since this is the best way for us
to share our work (Share Screen function). Bring your laptops every time!
Course Schedule: A tentative course schedule and assignments follow. Note that I reserve the
right to make changes to the schedule and syllabus with notice to the students.
