Q. Based on the story of “The Old Man, Young Boy, and the Donkey” provide a
verdict as a judge to the responsible.
Ans: Based on the understanding of the story by me, if I were to provide a
verdict to the responsible, I would hold the Society Accountable. I believe the
society holds collective responsibility. While individual opinions may differ, the
society’s conflicting criticisms contributed to the donkey’s demise, creating
confusion for the young boy and old man. While criticisms may occur to the
verdict, some counters to them are given below:-
Criticism 1: Unfair to punish the entire society for the actions of a few
individuals.
Counter: Punishing society as a whole symbolically highlights collective
responsibility, emphasizing society's impact on others. It encourages reflection
on the role individuals play in shaping public discourse and promotes empathy,
understanding, and responsible communication.
Criticism 2: Lack of individual accountability for the old man and the young boy.
Counter: While individuals bear personal accountability, societal expectations
influence decision-making. Conflicting criticisms from society affected the
judgment of the old man and the young boy, acknowledging the psychological
impact of societal pressure.
Criticism 3: Difficulty in determining the extent of society's responsibility and the
criteria for punishment.
Counter: The focus of punishing society is to emphasize collective responsibility

In Conclusion, punishing society addresses collective responsibility, promotes
constructive communication, empathy, and unity. It fosters a positive
environment while recognizing individual judgment within societal contexts.
