chromatography: propylene, hexane, benzene, dichlorobenzene.
a. (20 pts.) In reversed-phase HPLC, how would you expect the elution order of the four
compounds if methanol is used as the mobile phase. Explain your answer.
b. (20 pts.) In reversed-phase HPLC using 50% methanol and 50% acetone as the mobile
phase, how would you expect the retention time of benzene to be as compared to that
when using methanol as the mobile phase? Explain your answer.
2. (60 pts.) Determine the molecular formula and possible structures for the unknown based
on the given spectra.
