Recycling
Recycling can be useful as it:
• Reduces that amount of general waste that needs to be
removed from the site
• Reduces the amount of rubbish that goes into landfill
• Assists the environment by reusing materials
Mise-en-place (collecting ingredients)
Manage resources with a sustainability mindset.
1. Be organized.
2. Only collect the ingredients that you need, this includes
managing the usage of:
•
•
•
•
•
•
Gas
Electricity
Water
Time
Food
Food wastage
Measuring accurately prevents wastage

Accurate measuring:
Scraping excess flour
away with the flat
side of a butter knife.
• Prevents wastage
of flour.
• Stops product from
being too dry.

• Wastes ingredients.
• Dries product out.
• May cause other
ingredients to be used
to balance texture of
food, e.g. add more
milk. Creating more
wastage.
• Uses more of earths
energy though more
flour being processed
and delivered.
List the wasted resources

resources are used?
