Introduction to Smart Glove 2.1. Purpose of use The Neofect Smart Glove is “manually functioning recovery devices” used for hand function rehabilitation training. Indiciations: The Neofect Smart Glove system is intended to be used to support repetitive task practice for rehabilitation of adults under supervision of a medical professional in a clinical or home setting, including adults rehabilitating from stroke. The system includes simulated activities of daily living (ADLs) for upper limbs, with audio-visual feedback and graphic movement representations for patients as well as patient performance metrics for the medical professional. Patient assessment, exercise guidance, and approval by the medical professional is required prior to use. 2.2. Target users and those who should avoid use 2.2.1. Target users Adult stroke survivors • 6 Use only for the specifications listed above. For all other conditions, consult your doctor regarding use. 2.2.2. Those who should avoid use The prohibited actions stated below were not designated based on clinical tests but derived from the opinions of medical professionals. In the case of the situations stated below, do not use Neofect Smart Glove without consulting a medical professional. • Patients with open wounds • Patients with a risk of skin infections • Patients with skin diseases in the infected hand • Patients with a Spasticity higher than the standard of 3 on the MAS (Modified Ashworth Scale) • Patients who feel dizzy or faint • Patients who have an implanted defibrillator • If a scratch or rash on the part being treated is evident during use 2.2.3. Side effects This has not been revealed through clinical tests, but the following side effects may occur. If side effects occur, stop use immediately and consult a medical professional. If there is prolonged use of a product that doesn’t fit well, a mark or flare on the skin may form due to friction. User information 4.1. Verification of the condition of devices and components • • Check the necessary components before use. Check for damages and whether the components are intact for safe use. 4.2. Information on user placement and posture ① Adjust the height of the chair so that the hip is level with, or slightly higher than the knees. If the height of the chair cannot ② Keep the feet an appropriate distance apart and make sure each foot touches the floor entirely. ③ ④ ⑤ ⑥ be adjusted, use a cushion or footstool for proper positioning. Keep the knees in a straight and forward position, without letting them fall outward. Place the elbows at a 90° angle on the table, and control the height of the table so that the lower arm is parallel to the ground. Preparing to use the Smart Glove 4.3.1. Wearing the device A. Lithium battery type 12 ① Place the Smart glove on the back of the hand and adjust the wrist band to fit the user. ② To fasten the glove and hand together, connect the palm band as shown in the picture. ③ Lightly pull on the finger holder parts and put them on each finger’s first joint and fasten. B. AAA charger type ① Make thumb cover as shown in the picture. 13 14 ② Place the Smart glove on the back of the hand and adjust the wrist band to fit the user. ③ To fasten the glove and hand together, connect the palm band as shown in the picture. ④ Lightly pull on the finger holder parts and put them on each finger’s first joint and fasten. ⑤ Connect auxiliary wristband. 15 4.3.2. Inserting the battery A. Lithium battery type ① Open the Smart Glove’s battery cover. ③ Close the battery cover. ② Insert the battery. B. AAA charger type ① Open the Smart Glove’s battery cover. ③ Close the battery cover. ② 16 Insert the battery. 4.3.3. Turn on the Smart Glove ① ② Click on the button (as marked on the image above) on the Smart Glove’s back of the hand side. If the Smart Glove has been turned on properly, an LED light will flicker. 17 4.3.4. Smart Glove finger calibration Finger sensor of the Smart Glove is heavily affected by humidity change. Run Reset Glove menu on a regular basis to adjust sensor value per weather condition. ① Press More button from the patient's list screen and run Reset Glove menu. ② Make a fist and release 2 ~ 3 times after putting on the gloves. ③ 18 Press Save button to complete calibration after checking if all values are entered correctly. 4.4. Evaluation 4.4.1. Evaluation description The Smart Glove evaluation proceeds as a movement analysis evaluation. The movement analysis evaluation measures the patient’s PROM, and when measuring the AROM, movement repetition (at least 3 times) is applied to yield the average AROM score. After the evaluation, a graph with the patient’s movement angles at a given time (in seconds) is also provided. Proceeding with the evaluation Ready position Be in the proper position following the screen’s directions, then select Next to begin the PROM measurement. PROM measurement ① ② Click the Start over button to start the measurement over from the first movement. Select the Remeasure button to measure the current movement again. 21 Average AROM measurement ① ② ③ This shows the number of the times the patient repeated the movement. Click on Kinematic Graph to see the graph that shows the patient’s movement angle per second in real time. The graph disappears from the screen when the movement analysis button is selected a second time. After completing the movement repeat three times, click Next to move to the next movement measurement. If you select the button when the number of movement repeats is less than three times, the following pop-up will appear If you click on Recalibrate within the pop-up, the measurement of the same movement starts again. Select the confirm button to be directed to the next movement measurement. 22 Evaluation complete When the evaluations of all of the selected movements are complete, the following Evaluation Complete pop-up will appear. Click on See Evaluation Results to see detailed evaluation results, and select Confirm 23 4.5. Patient home > Evaluation results From the Patient Home’s Evaluation Results screen, the patient’s results can be compared to the patient’s previous records. The evaluation results menu on the left side consists of session results comparison and developments per movement. 4.5.1. The selected session’s PROM score and average AROM score appears here, and you can also check the comparison of the ROM improvements of previous sessions to current sessions. 4.5.2. Progress of results for each movement ① ② You can check the PROM and AROM scores of all of the movements that the patient evaluated in one graph. Training types The Smart Glove classifies the training types into AROM, Coordination, Timing, and Cognition for training purposes. AROM Coordination Timing The contents consist of training that progresses only when the patient’s AROM reaches or exceeds a critical point, with a goal of improving the patient’s range of motion. The contents consist of a requirement of avoiding or imitating the target with “consistent” movement, with a goal of improving the patient’s movement capability within their range of motion. The contents consist of a requirement of the capability to move exactly at the specified time, with a goal of improving the patient’s movement capability within their range of motion. Training options Based on the patient’s functional condition, training can be carried out after adjsuting the options. Sound Effects: While training contents, select the success / failure audiovisual feedback icon. Level: Select the level of difficulty based on the patient’s condition. Frequency Control: During training, left / right ratio of movement can be adjusted. ⑤ Visual Stimuli Location: The training graphic element position changes in order to stimulate the patient’s sense of vision. ⑥ Hold Time: Select the movement holding time from 0 to 9 seconds based on the patient’s condition. Storing after use 4.8.1. Storing the Smart Glove Turn off the Smart Glove ① ② Press down on the Smart Glove’s power button for at least 3 seconds as in the picture above. If the Smart Glove turns off properly, an LED light will flicker. 29 Removing the battery A. Lithium Battery Type ① Open the Smart Glove’s battery cover. ③ Close the battery cover. ② B. If you remove the battery while the power is still on, the product may become damaged. Cleaning the Smart Glove ① After using the Smart Glove, remove the glove from the user, and use a cotton ball with alcohol to wipe the parts that were in contact with the user’s skin. • ② • Silicone pad and palm/auxiliary wristband Wristband and battery body interior For the parts that did not touch the user’s skin, wipe them with a soft cloth or cotton ball. After cleaning, store the Smart Glove in its exclusive case. 31 Charging the battery When battery is running low, use the exclusive charger provided as a component to charge it. ① Insert the battery into the charger. When inserting, match the battery terminal with the charger terminal. ③ When the battery is fully charged, unplug the charger cable from the outlet. ② Plug one side of the connection cable into the charger, and the other side into the outlet. Name & description for each part ① Finger peg Fastens the finger to the sensor. ② Finger sensor A sensor that recognizes and measures the finger’s movement. ③ Palm band Fastens and connects the glove’s body to the hand. ④ Power switch ⑤ Wrist body ⑥ Wristband ⑦ ID ⑧ Indication light Displays the glove’s movement and connection condition. ⑨ Main body Protects the structure with the circuit connected to the sensor. ⑩ Auxiliary wristband Fixes bottom part of the glove body with your wrist. (Optional by glove type) Turn the glove on/off. A standard symbol is printed to make the power button distinguishable. When the cover is opened, there is a space to insert the battery. See the image above to remove the silicone pad. When attaching the silicone pad to the Smart Glove, refer to the picture above to insert all the parts so that they are completely fastened to the glove. To prevent product damage, do not use too much force when removing or attaching the silicone pad.
