2. Introduction to Smart Glove
2.1. Purpose of use
The Neofect Smart Glove is “manually functioning recovery devices” used for hand function rehabilitation training.
Indiciations: The Neofect Smart Glove system is intended to be used to support repetitive task practice for rehabilitation of adults under
supervision of a medical professional in a clinical or home setting, including adults rehabilitating from stroke. The system includes
simulated activities of daily living (ADLs) for upper limbs, with audio-visual feedback and graphic movement representations for patients
as well as patient performance metrics for the medical professional. Patient assessment, exercise guidance, and approval by the medical
professional is required prior to use.
2.2. Target users and those who should avoid use

regarding use.
2.2.2. Those who should avoid use
The prohibited actions stated below were not designated based on clinical tests but derived from the opinions of medical
professionals. In the case of the situations stated below, do not use Neofect Smart Glove without consulting a medical professional.
• Patients with open wounds
• Patients with a risk of skin infections
• Patients with skin diseases in the infected hand
• Patients with a Spasticity higher than the standard of 3 on the MAS (Modified Ashworth
Scale)
• Patients who feel dizzy or faint
• Patients who have an implanted defibrillator
• If a scratch or rash on the part being treated is evident during use
2.2.3. Side effects
This has not been revealed through clinical tests, but the following side effects may occur. If side effects occur, stop use immediately
and consult a medical professional.
If there is prolonged use of a product that doesn’t fit well, a mark or flare on the skin may form due to friction.
Pain may develop if only one movement is repeatedly performed for over 30 minutes during training.

Neofect Co., Ltd. is responsible for the manufacturing defects of the Neofect Smart Glove or product damage and malfunction from
insufficient packaging or delivery.
Neofect Smart Glove components and software are covered by warranty.

4. User information
4.1. Verification of the condition of devices and

4.3. Preparing to use the Smart Glove
4.3.1. Wearing the device

If the Smart Glove has been turned on properly, an LED light will flicker.

4.3.4. Smart Glove finger calibration
Finger sensor of the Smart Glove is heavily affected by humidity change. Run Reset Glove menu on a regular basis to adjust sensor
value per weather condition.

Press More button from the patient's list screen and run Reset Glove menu.

Make a fist and release 2 ~ 3 times after putting on the gloves.

4.4. Evaluation
4.4.1. Evaluation description
The Smart Glove evaluation proceeds as a movement analysis evaluation. The movement analysis evaluation measures the patient’s
PROM, and when measuring the AROM, movement repetition (at least 3 times) is applied to yield the average AROM score. After the
evaluation, a graph with the patient’s movement angles at a given time (in seconds) is also provided.


4.4.3. Proceeding with the evaluation

Be in the proper position following the screen’s directions, then select Next to begin the PROM measurement.

Select the Remeasure button to measure the current movement again.

This shows the number of the times the patient repeated the movement.
Click on Kinematic Graph to see the graph that shows the patient’s movement angle per second in real time. The graph
disappears from the screen when the movement analysis button is selected a second time.
After completing the movement repeat three times, click Next to move to the next movement measurement.
If you select the button when the number of movement repeats is less than three times, the following pop-up will appear
If you click on Recalibrate within the pop-up, the measurement of the same movement starts again. Select the confirm
button to be directed to the next movement measurement.

When the evaluations of all of the selected movements are complete, the following Evaluation Complete pop-up will appear. Click on

4.5. Patient home > Evaluation results
From the Patient Home’s Evaluation Results screen, the patient’s results can be compared to the patient’s previous records. The
evaluation results menu on the left side consists of session results comparison and developments per movement.

Click on the menu to select the number of times the patient has conducted the evaluation.
The selected session’s PROM score and average AROM score appears here, and you can also check the comparison of the
ROM improvements of previous sessions to current sessions.

You can check the PROM and AROM scores of all of the movements that the patient evaluated in one graph.
Click the upper part of the graph to check the ROM angle of the selected day in detail, which appears inside a speech
bubble.

The Smart Glove classifies the training types into AROM, Coordination, Timing, and Cognition for training purposes.

Based on the patient’s functional condition, training can be carried out after adjsuting the options. The options may vary based on the
training content.

Level: Select the level of difficulty based on the patient’s condition.
Frequency Control: During training, left / right ratio of movement can be adjusted.

You must make sure the product is turned off before removing the battery. If you remove
the battery while the power is still on, the product may become damaged.
Cleaning the Smart Glove

After using the Smart Glove, remove the glove from the user,
and use a cotton ball with alcohol to wipe the parts that were
in contact with the user’s skin.

Press the power button of the glove. When the power is on and
the green light slowly blinks, lift the glove to chest level with the
back of the hand of the glove facing toward you.
When ready, rotate it 360° forward 5 times using the dotted line
as an axis. Then, rotate it 360° backward 5 times using the
dotted line as an axis.

the glove must be removed. See the image above to remove the silicone pad.
When attaching the silicone pad to the Smart Glove, refer to the picture above to insert
all the parts so that they are completely fastened to the glove.
To prevent product damage, do not use too much force when removing or attaching the
silicone pad.
To prevent loss, store the silicone pad in a safe place.

6.4. Battery management and precautions
6.4.1. Battery dangers

If the battery is not properly used, the battery may leak, overheat, explode, or light on fire
and cause danger. Take the following precautions:
