FAQ’s regarding the closure of Purdue University Global in Lincoln, Nebraska 1. Who closed the Lincoln campus of Purdue University Global in Lincoln, Nebraska? The Nebraska Board of Nursing placed the Purdue University Global on warning in March of 2022, based on non-compliance with the Board’s regulations and student and faculty complaints. Purdue University Global subsequently notified the Nebraska Board that they were closing the Lincoln campus, effective March 22, 2023. The Nebraska Board of Nursing Accepted Purdue’s notification of closure on March 9, 2023. The Nebraska Board of Nursing has the statutory authority to approve or close programs, however, Purdue University Global was on warning status without a notice of closure from the Board. 2. Is it true that if I graduate from Purdue University Global, I will not be issued a license to practice nursing in Nebraska? The requirements for licensure in Nebraska include: A completed application with fees Transcripts from an approved nursing program (for example, IA Board of Nursing) Criminal background check Proof of lawful presence Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN examination Any individual who meets nursing licensure requirements in the state of Nebraska will be issued a nursing license practice in Nebraska. 3. Is the Purdue University Global nursing program accredited? Nursing programs in the United States often have multiple levels of accreditation by organizations such as the Higher Learning Commission, the Post-secondary Commission, and a national nursing education certifying body. Purdue University Global is currently accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Purdue University Global has been granted preaccreditation from the Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA). This means that an application is on file and under consideration for approval. Will my current nursing course credits from Purdue transfer to another nursing program? Only the individual nursing school under consideration can answer that question, based on a transcript review. Generally, nursing credits do not transfer between an unaccredited nursing program and an accredited nursing program. A school may opt to accept general education credits. 5. I received a Nebraska Nursing Incentives Scholarship from the Department of Health and Human Services. Do I have to pay the money back? To be eligible for the scholarship, students are required to attend a nursing program located in Nebraska ; therefore Purdue students attending a nursing program in Iowa may not be eligible for the scholarship.
