What is The Internet and The WWW?
When and who was invented The Internet and
The WWW ?
The Internet
• Internet is a global

communication system that links
together thousands of individual
networks.
No one person invented the
internet. When networking
technology was first developed, a
number of scientists and
engineers brought their research
together to create the
ARPANET.
The World Wide Web
• W3 is a global information medium
•
which users can access via
computers connected to the
internet.
Time Berners-Lee, a British
scientist, invented W3 in 1989.

with Lawrence Roberts
connects two computer with
a low-speed dial-up
telephone from
Massachusetts to California,
creating the 1st Wide-Area
network and laying the
groundwork for the internet

billion people are

version of the network
which is based on packet
switching method. The
computers of UCLA &
Stanford connected for
the first time.

Facebook launchers and

grow rapidly.

develop a single standard for

is needed to create the

web portal. The most common web portal is known as
www.
We can't browse or access web portal without proper
internet access.
