The loads that make up and remain generally constant over time are known as dead loads, also
known as persistent or static loads. As an example, consider the weight of the structural flooring,
walls, roof, and beams of a building. Throughout their useful lives, dead loads are the steady
loads that persist. It is the weight inside the building.
