7 DAY ACTION PLAN
Let’s get you a client in 7 days. if you follow this cheat sheet to a tee, you will land
a client. this process is proven, tested, & it just works. be methodical. be
disciplined. stay motivated. stay focused.

DAY 1
GATHER
1.
Create a folder either on your computer or on Google drive entitled “gather”.
create subfolders entitled:
a. before_after
b. photos
c. credits
d. best work
i. genre 1
ii. genre 2
iii. genre 3
iv. genre 4
v. genre 5
e. logos

Gather all of the assets & put them into each folder. Don’t worry about how they
will be applied, just get everything in one place.

BUILD
Facebook: update your facebook profile to match your credibility
a. change your profile picture to a photo of you in a studio or something
music related
b. change your headline to something that links you to your credibility (i.e.
“electronic music producer.” “audio engineer, wife, mother.” “pastor, friend,
& studio musician”)
c. change your cover photo to something studio/music related.
d. change your job title to your chosen path: “film composer”,
“producer/engineer”, etc... if you want, you can create a page for yourself or
your company and then link up your profession to that page. for step by
step instructions on how to do that, go through the walkthrough here.
Soundbetter: update your soundbetter profile to match your credibility
a. if you don’t have one already, create a soundbetter profile here.
b. input your real name under “profile name”.
c. under “what do you do”, have a title that hooks (i.e. “radio-ready mixing”,
“industry standard ProTools editor”, “EDM producing expert” etc…)
d. fill out your location
e. under “the pitch”, pitch who you have worked with, what you specialize in,
& really sell yourself. keep in mind how you come across. have a “listener
oriented” mindset that makes clients subconsciously tell themselves, “i
really want to work with them.”
f. under “description”, you can be a bit more technical. this is less of a pitch
and more of what you do, how you do it, & why you do it.

g. upload a photo of yourself in your studio.
h. if you have credits from AllMusic go ahead and insert that link so
soundbetter can pull in valuable data to show your credits.
i. under “gear highlights”, don’t be afraid to share your favorite gear that you use
from your plug-in inventory. Share some special features about your studio.
j. under “which known artists' sound do you specialize in?”, put down 3
artists that either are the same niche/genre if you are a specialist, or put 3
diverse genres that show you can do it all. If you go the later route, be sure
that they truly are on different ends of the genre spectrum.
k. under “What genre are you a specialist in?”, be honest & select one where
you feel like you shine.
l. do the same for the other 7 genres. be honest and showcase what you do best.
m. under “your specialty”, select everything that you can do. Utilize The
Ultimate Career Path cheat sheet with this step.
n. set your prices to accurately reflect what you are worth. use the service
pricing cheat sheet with this step. Be sure to rely very heavily on “what’s
your budget?” pricing and then disclose prices later in conversation.
o. under “soundcloud playlist”, put in your soundcloud playlist link. If you are
uncertain on how to create a soundcloud playlist, see this article here. You
must first have a soundcloud account. if you don’t have a soundcloud
account, set one up here. Be sure to upload your best work here. Come
back to this step once you have set up your soundcloud account. If you
don’t have or don’t want a soundcloud account, then this isn’t necessary
but it does help.
p. under “terms of service”, feature aspects of your process that sell well (i.e.
“unlimited free revisions”, “24 hour turnaround”, “100% money back if you
don’t like the outcome” etc…)
q. under “audio samples”, upload your best examples that display your
specialty as well as before & after samples.
r. name the tracks & be sure to name the before & after samples clearly so
your future clients know that the sample toggles back & forth.
s. under “how do you want to be contacted”, input your email address. It is
best to have a separate email address for business.
t. under “PayPal email”, input your email address that you use for your paypal
account. If you don’t have a paypal email address or account, set one up
here. This is where you will collect payment.
u. under “website”, feature your website. if you don’t have a website, that is
totally fine. Instead, feature your facebook or soundcloud profile.
v. under “deal for SoundBetter Visitors”, offer a special deal! (i.e. 25% off for all
soundbetter users etc…)
w. save & publish your listing!
x. if at any point you are unsure of how your profile competes, explore this page
to get a great understanding of what you are trying to achieve. After
looking through some of the profiles, go back to yours & iterate until you
are pleased with your page.

Upwork: create your upwork profile. This is where you will be able to market
yourself as a full-stack engineer & artist. We will use this platform to offer many
different services, not just your specialty.
a. create your upwork profile here. be sure to select “work as a freelancer”
when creating a profile.
b. model your upwork profile off of your soundbetter profile. we built our
soundbetter profile as a baseline, but upwork will require a bit more
creativity as this platform acts as a “catch all” for your skill sets.
c. create as many specialized profiles for each skillset you have. For instance,
if you create background music for documentaries, create a “composer”
profile. If you also mix, create a “mixing” profile. Follow the instructions
here to get the most out of your upwork profile.
DAY 3
6.
SEARCH
Today is posting day. You’re going to post & construct messages that resonate
with artists, producers, and the market on a practical level. Your goal is to get
files. The first thing you are going to do is post on your personal profile offering
something really exciting that relates to your personalized skill set (mixing,
composing, producing etc…). Whichever path you are on, be sure to craft your
message with 3 different elements:
a. free
b. DM (direct message)
c. excitement
a couple different examples
(be sure to change the language so that it fits your personality):
a. “EXCITING NEWS: I have an opening this week to mix one of your guy’s
songs for free! All you need to do is direct message me to find out more.
Send me your song and I will get it mixed in 24 hours.”
b. “Calling all artists! I will record one of your songs for free! Before you release
your single or album on Spotify, let’s get it professionally recorded. DM if
you’re interested. I imagine my inbox will fill up quickly so DM me right
now with a link to your demo mix and I will get the ball rolling for you!”
c. “I want to co-write music with you for free! Send me a DM if you have some
song ideas floating around and I will see if I can help! If you hate my
thoughts (which I’m sure you won’t), then no harm no foul. If you love it,
then we can chat about working together. Either way, DM me a link to
your song ideas! I’ll work with you to make it perfect :)”

Next, go to facebook groups & search for music related groups with these keywords:
If you are composing, producing, recording, editing, or mixing: music producers,
EDM, pop producers, audiophiles, audio engineers, remix, musicians, bedroom
producers (anything you can think of that relates!, etc…)

Once you type in the keyword, a list will appear where you can search through
groups related to each keyword. These keywords are not exhaustive so feel free
to spend hours coming up with new keywords. Once you find a page that you
feel is relative to your niche, open the page in a new tab, then rinse & repeat. You
should have up to 100 tabs open if you are doing your due diligence.

Go to each tab & join each group. Some groups will require some authentication
to join. If so, go through the authentication process. Be sure to keep each tab
open after joining the group.

Now that you are a member of each group, copy & paste your post on facebook
into each group. However, be sure to tailor the message slightly so that it
resonates with the group. Be smart about this. For instance, if the group is
specifically tailored to EDM, talk about how you specialize in EDM in the post.
Posting to each group will take a lot of time, but it must be done to build
organic momentum so that you can execute on this 7 day action plan. Be sure
to keep each tab open. Do not close them quite yet!

Now that you have posted in each group, go back to the first tab & search your
specialty keyword in the group: “editing”, “mixing”, “autotune” etc... the feed will
now only populate with posts that include the keyword you searched for. Go
through each post & see if anyone is asking help with their song, project etc... It’s
okay if it’s an older post. Once you find a perfect looking post, comment on the
post saying that you can help them for free if they’d like, then ask them to DM
you if they are still interested. Rinse & repeat for each tab/group. Once you have
covered every single tab, you can now close the tabs.

Next, go to the “jobs” section of upwork here. You’re going to execute a similar
strategy as what you did with facebook. Remember to look at upwork as a “catch
all” for jobs. If you are a full-stack artist or engineer, this is a great place to land a
client quickly. you will be able to find composing, editing, vocal tuning, mixing
etc… clients here. There are a TON of opportunities here to get the ball rolling!

Keeping this all in mind, search through these selected keywords: audio mixing,
audio editing, mixing, mixing and mastering, music producing, music
production, audio production, audio post production, vocal tuning, drum
editing, podcast editing, composing, documentary scoring etc… There will
literally be hundreds of potential keywords, but start with these. Start with your
main keyword pertaining to your specialty & scroll through the jobs available. Be
sure to clear all filters. Once you find a job that sounds interesting & that you can
do, open it in a new tab. Go through every job post under this keyword. Once you
have exhausted this keyword, move onto the next keyword & repeat this entire
process. You should have plenty of tabs open after doing this methodically.
Remember, if there is a job you can do outside of your specialty, open that one in
a new tab too! (i.e. record & mix in a bass guitar to a song for our commercial).

Now that you have all tabs open, go through each one & “submit a proposal” for
the ones that you believe you can execute on. A bit of worry or doubt may set in

(imposter syndrome creeping up on you!). If this is the case, don’t worry, move
forward with the proposal if you are on the fence. You can always pull out later.
We are just submitting a proposal for consideration. For every proposal you
submit, only a select few will actually get back to you & only a small number will
actually hire you. Keeping this in mind, be heavy handed with submitting your
proposals. We aren’t going to give you examples of proposals because this is
where you have to do some creative thinking & come up with great ideas on
how you can help the client. Luckily, your facebook, soundcloud, soundbetter, &
upwork profile speaks for itself!

(This step is optional). Go to this page & subscribe to either “premium”, or
“premium yearly” to have access to the job board. Don’t do this unless you have
the budget & time to actively search the job board every day for work. If you
commit to this, then you commit to a part-time or full-time job of using
soundbetter as your main source for music work. If you move forward with this
step, you will be able to go to the jobs portal & submit proposals to jobs just like
upwork. Use the same methodology & strategy you used with upwork, however
the offers here will be more professional & at higher demand. Keep this in mind
as you start submitting proposals. If you move forward with this step, try to
submit at least 50 proposals.
Reflect on the work that you’ve done. Quite literally, you should have reached
hundreds of potential clients in 1 day. Don’t respond to any messages. Just rinse
& repeat all day until you have as many offers out as possible.
DAY 4
17.
OFFER
Today you are going to respond to every single person in all 3 profiles (3 if you
include soundbetter). Don’t try & tackle each profile at once, go through each
one individually. Start first with facebook. Log into facebook & spend half the
day responding to each message, comment, & notification. Remember, all you
need to do is get files. worry about project & pricing later. Just have them send
you a file. Be clear with what they are getting. For instance, if you’re mixing, it’s
recommended that if they have a single, then just say you will mix the entire
song for free, & you will send them back a mixed sample. If they like it, then
you’re more than happy to work with them on a basis that fits their budget. If
they don’t like it, no harm no foul. If this single is part of an EP or album that
they plan on releasing, find out by simply asking. If so, then you’re going work
on 1 of the songs on the album for free only if they send you the entire album
files up front (just as an example). Just be sure to get the files first before
landing on anything concrete. Ideal situation: people are sending you files for
singles, EPs, & albums, and now you have complete control to blow them away
later & they’ll want to hire you as their engineer, producer, songwriter etc... for
this project!

After you have spent half of your allocated time on facebook, switch to upwork &
nurture the potential clients that responded. Apply the same strategy to all
inquiries. Offer to do something for free, (like sending them back only a sample),
& if they love it, then they are more likely to award you the proposal. Spend
25-50% of your allocated time on upwork.

If you spent time on soundbetter, take 25% of your day to respond & nurture
those inquiries. again, offer to work on some of their music for free (& plan to
send them back a sample). These inquiries are more critical of you & your work
so don’t take it hard if you don’t get immediate responses. soundbetter requires
you to build social proof.

Att the end of this day, you should have multiple files to work with. Be sure to keep
track of who each file belongs to. Save things methodically in your file hierarchy.
DAY 5

INQUIRE
Today is when you get to work. If you’re mixing, and you have files, mix each
“free” project by mixing the entire song, following the methodology of the
Hybrid Musician workflow, & save/export their file as if they paid for it. Then,
duplicate the track & create a ~30-120 second sample of their song. Pick a
section that is really exciting & showcases your work & their song. If the song
starts with a bang, then grab the intro, verse, and first half of the first chorus. If
the second chorus is the most exciting part of the song, grab the pre-chorus
into the chorus & then end halfway through the bridge. Once you select the
section of the song, apply a noticeable 1-3 second fade at the beginning of the
file selection & apply a 3-5 second fade at the end of the file selection. Follow
your usual consolidation & exporting steps & save this as “Song Name_Sample”.
do this with each song that you promised a free sample for until you are done
with each sample. If you are writing or composing, this will look more like giving
feedback of their demos with quick ideas that you have recorded after bringing
their music into your session. If you are vocal tuning, for instance, you would do
the vocal processing and mix it into their track. You must be creative for each
path you go down depending on your career path and skill set.
After you have all of your work finished, reach back out to your potential clients
either on facebook, or their email (depending on if the conversation yesterday
prompted an exchange of emails). Very important: for every file (if applicable)
you send back, you must include a brief write up of:
a. what you liked about their song
b. what you did to their song
c. what could have been better if they fixed a few things in their production,
recording process, or mix. (basically, showing them that you have the
information they need to get to your client’s desired situation)

this should prompt a back & forth conversation to get them interested in
working with you. If they start fixing your suggested changes, have them send a
new file back to you, but this time explain to them that you can handle their
revisions under a project. If you receive a file back with fixed production
changes, respond with something like:
a. “Awesome! I’d be happy to mix this again for you. If you loved what we
were able to do together with this sample, feel free to start a project here,
(then send them a paypal link with a custom quote. you should have
already discussed the budget in your back & forth conversation. If not, be
sure to prep them on your prices.) , and I’ll get this back to you right away!”

Next, spend time on upwork negotiating your project further after you have
uploaded their free sample (if applicable). Spend time chatting with your
potential client on how the project would go & how you would deliver on their
expectations. The goal in this step is to nurture your potential client based off of
the free sample work you have sent them.

If you chose to move forward with soundbetter, spend time nurturing the
relationship in the messages. apply the same thought process here as you did
with upwork. The goal is to get them to go with you for their specific project
they have posted.
25.
Tie up any loose ends. If there is a file that you have worked on that you have
not sent, send it to the potential client & start a conversation with them. If you
have sent a file & have not heard back, follow up with them in the messages. If
you reached out to anyone & no one followed up, reach back out & ask for an
update & offer that you are there to help. This is a last check to make sure that
every interaction was nurtured, & that every file received was taken care of.
DAY 6
26.
RECEIVE
Today is the day that you will most likely receive or “win” a project! If you have
done everything up to this point correctly, you will have someone who is
willing to pay you for your work. At the very least, you will have someone
very excited about you & your work that they will use you in the near
future or on their next project. If so, this is considered a “MAJOR WIN”, as you
are building your authority for the long term! either way, you have made a
substantial dent with potentially dozens of artists & potential clients. Any
potential client that wants to use you for their project, feel free to walk them
through the process. Create a custom quote to send to them. Don’t do any
more work else unless you have received payment.

DAY 7

MASTER
Everything you are working on today, will be from a paying client.
Congratulations! Treat them with respect & apply the principles you have learned
starting from the beginning of Hybrid Musician from start to finish. Give them
the pleasure of being treated professionally with the systems we have taught.
BONUS
FOLLOW UP THOUGHTS
a. Even if this doesn’t take you 7 exact days, it will eventually lead you to a paying
client. some steps might take a few days. If so, stick with the process & you will
eventually see fruit!
b. Don’t get frustrated easily! This is going to be very difficult to follow through
with everything. And even if it doesn’t go exactly as planned, that is okay! You
are already making a substantial dent in the market! Use any “failures” as an
opportunity to be resourceful moving forward. “Negative response” is gold. It
gives you the data needed to adjust your approach.
c. If at any point you want some more experience or clients, come back to this step
by step action plan & repeat the process to generate more results.
d. After setting up everything & pursuing this process, it will accelerate your
growth as a professional because it will give you experience, real assets (profiles),
& creativity to move forward in your own way!
e. If you don’t achieve any results, then something went wrong. Here are
questions to ask to help you can troubleshoot:
i. Did I follow the steps methodically? If not, go back & follow the steps
methodically.
ii. Did I get feedback from the MOAM community on facebook? If not, reach
out to the community to get feedback.
iii. Did I get feedback from the QA calls? If not, jump on the QA calls to
troubleshoot. Have specific questions prepared.
iv. Which phase in the program did I skip? If you did skip, go back & watch.
v. Which phase did I not understand? If there was a phase you didn’t
understand, go back & watch again, supplementing your learning by asking
for help in the community & the QA calls.
vi. Which section in the course did I not take seriously? If you didn’t apply
yourself at any point, find the sections of the program that you skipped, & go
back & watch.
vii. Which action items did I not do? If you found action items you did not
do, go back & do the action items.
LAST STEP: post a screenshot of your “win” to the Hybrid Musician facebook
group! This could be a screenshot of payment processed, or a screenshot of the
client telling you about what they liked about your work. anything. Just take
this time to celebrate you and your work!
