Excretory System
Definition of Excretion:
• Excretion is the process by which metabolic
waste is eliminated from an organism.
In Vertebrates this is primarily carried out
by the lungs, Kidneys and Skin.
Definition of Excretory system:
• The System that excretes waste out of our
body and regulates the amount of water in
our body is called the Excretory System or
Urinary System.
• The main organs of this system are:
Kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder and urethra.
Functions of Excretory system
• Excretory system excretes or removes the
metabolic wastes from the body and retain
the proper amount of water, salts and
nutrients in the body.
Wastes that are removed from the body
includes carbon dioxide, water, salt, urea and
uric acid.
