Overview of E³.series Modules
▪ E³.series software consists of several, different modules.
▪ E³.series modules are used to design, create, modify and check the electrical, electronic, hydraulic and
pneumatic design and associated documentation.
▪ All modules work with the same data kernel, which allows data and information to be shared between
modules.
▪ In E³.series the symbol and component databases form the foundation, on which everything else is based.

▪
▪
▪
▪
▪
▪
▪
▪
▪
▪
Project
– Defines a drawing set in E3.series, which consists of one or more sheets as well as external documents
Object-Oriented
– E3.series manages objects, such as components, symbols, connectors, blocks, connections, graphics and text.
– An object is used only once in a project and can be displayed in different views.
View
– Different displays (views) of an object, e.g. terminals in the schematic and in the terminal plan
Sheet
– Drawing area, on which symbols, texts and graphics are placed
Component
– A physically existing device
Symbol
– Abstract, graphical display of a component or part thereof
Device
– A component used in a circuit that is assigned a device designation.
Attribute
– Additional information assigned to an object
Dialog
– Menu window, in which data can be input and processed by E3.series
Sub-Circuit (Part)
– Sub-Circuits may contain devices, symbols and connections. A Sub-Circuit pointer can be saved in the database.
Model
– The model is a panel symbol and represents the device on a panel sheet.
Schematic Type
– When placing a symbol, the system checks to see whether the schematic type agrees with that of the sheet - only then is it possible to be placed.
Attribute Text Template Symbol
– Used to display cable, conductor, wire, project, device and/or connection attributes.

Starting Several E3.series Instances
▪ Several projects can be opened simultaneously
– A new program window (instance) of E3.series is created for every project.
▪ All projects opened in the single-user version of E³.series cannot be opened by another user
– If another user tries calling up an already opened project, a window appears stating “WHO” opened the project and
“WHEN”
▪ Only one license per workstation is used, independent of how many E³ instances have been started.
