These are: • Understand and select information and use of evidence • Interpret evidence ( explain the meaning) • Text structure and organisation • Writer’s use of language • Writer’s purpose and effect So… Point Evidence Explanation • PEE gives you a structured way of covering these aspects. • Using PEE will help you get a better level in reading. • It proves you understand and can write about what you have read. Identify the point, evidence and explanation. In pairs, look at the paragraph below and decide what is the Point, Evidence and Explanation. This is shown when the writer mentions that, ‘But you don’t want to be bitten by a yellowspotted lizard. That’s the worst thing that can happen to you. You will die a slow and painful death.’ The writer has used the alliteration technique to evoke a bitter and a bad feeling that Stanley might have while staying in Camp Green Lake. This shows that it is an unbearable place to live in and it is very difficult to survive there. Therefore, this would make the reader feel sad for Stanley and sympathize with him and even with the other campers who will spend eighteen months in these difficult conditions.
