Transshipment problem

E-mail messages sent over the Internet are broken up into electronic packets that may take a variety of
different paths to reach their destination where the original message is reassembled. Suppose that the
nodes in the graph represent a series of computer hubs on the Internet and the arcs represent
connections between them. Suppose that the values on the arcs represent the number of packets per
minute (in 1,000,000s) that can be transmitted over each arc.
a. What does the arcs, number on the arcs, nodes, and the number in the nodes represents? (Please
write on the same excel sheet).
b. What is the balance of flow rules and whether the balance of flow rules apply on the arcs or the
nodes? (Explain and write in the same excel sheet)
c. Implement a network flow model (using Solver) to determine the maximum number of packets that
can flow from node 1 to node 12.
