A. Pre- Lesson

The teacher pulls out 5 persons at a time to do the oral pre-lesson activity
which will be an enrichment activity for the previous lesson.
We are going to play a game. We will pass around a ball while singing The
wheels on the Bus. Whoever gets the ball at the end of the song will use
this/that, these and those in a sentence using the chart by underlining the
appropriate word in the parenthesis.
(This, That) 1. ____________is a flower.
(These, Those) 2. ____________are the flowers in the garden.
(This, That) 3. ______________is a book.
( These, Those) 4. _____________are the books in the shelves.
(this, that) 5. Is ___________my pen?
The teacher will not show the correct answer first since the pre-assessment
activity will be used for post-activity and the basis for evaluation.
B. Introduction
When all has been called for the activity, teacher will gather the pupils for the
next part of the lesson.
We will recall the details of the story about “ Penaflorida, A Modern Day Hero”
The teacher will show pictures and let the pupils read the sentences below each
picture in column A and column B.

We will use the word this when you are holding an object or standing to a thing
which is nearer to you. For example:
This is a ball.
This is an umbrella.
If you are holding more than one object or standing to a thing which is nearer to
you, you will use these. For example:
These are the balls.
These are the umbrellas.
We will use the word that when you are pointing to object or standing to a thing
which are farther to you. For example:
That is a table.
That is a chair.
If you are pointing to objects or standing to things which are farther to you, you
will use those. For example:
Those are the tables in the classroom.
Those are the chairs in the office.
These words are demonstrative pronouns that tell how near or far the objects or
persons from someone speaking.
Remember: The linking verbs is and are differs in the sentence. You will use is
to a single object or thing and are for two or more objects or things.
