W2 Learning Area Quarter Arts 4 Grade Level 6 Date Concepts on the use of software • Manifests understanding of concepts on the use of software (commands, menu etc.) • Utilizes art skills in using new technologies (hardware and software) in package design Software I. LESSON TITLE II. MOST ESSENTIAL LEARNING COMPETENCIES (MELCs) III. CONTENT/CORE CONTENT IV. LEARNING PHASES AND LEARNING ACTIVITIES I. Introduction (Time Frame: 10 minutes) Many people are more familiar with the traditional way a design is developed. This is done with the use of pencil and paper. The artist makes several sketches on paper, drawing each side or angle to view the design entirely before illustrating it. Nowadays, you can digitally enhance your design by drawing and printing out some of the design elements. You can print out letters and cut them out to stick to your 3-D project. If your design includes a logo or brand name, you may design this using the computer and print it out. When using technology to design something, you will still use the art elements and principles. You only need to learn the features and options available in the software being used to make the necessary adjustments in your design. Learning Task 1 Look at the table below that contains different images. Identify their names and give their classification. Copy the table in your notebook and write your answers in Columns 2 and 3. Are you familiar with these logos/icons? Where do you usually find these items? Are they useful nowadays? D. Development (Time Frame: 15 minutes) Learning Task 2 Read and understand the following concepts about the two basic components of a computer . Every computer is composed of two basic components: a. HARDWARE- it is a collection of physical elements that make up the computer system. Computer hardware is the physical parts or components of a computer, such as monitor, mouse, keyboard, hard disk drive, motherboard, and the like, all of which are physical objects that are tangible. b. SOFTWARE- commonly known as programs or applications that consist of all the instructions which tell the hardware how to perform a task. This is also a collection of data, programs, procedures, and documentation that perform various tasks on a computer system. Some common examples are Microsoft Word, Adobe Photoshop, KineMaster, Google Chrome, and many other similar computer programs that are often used in our daily life. As user of technology, application software or “apps” are what we engaged the most. These types are productive end-user programs that help to perform our tasks. Here are some examples of software: 1. Microsoft Word- an application from Microsoft that creates, reads, edits, and shares files quickly and easily. Here are some of the main features: • Templates- users can create their own formatting templates allowing them to define a file with title, heading, paragraph and other element designs. • Image formats- import and display images in common formats such as JPG and GIF. It can also be used to create and display simple line-art. • Word Art- enables drawing text with graphical effects such as shadowing and stretching and has a variety of shapes and colors and even includes 3-dimensional effects. 2. KineMaster – makes video editing fun and easy to edit with lots of powerful tools and downloadable assets. Here are some of the main features: • Cut, splice, and crop your videos • Combine and edit videos, images, stickers, special effects, and text • Add music, voice overs, sound effects and voice changes • Create amazing visual effects by reversing, speeding up, adding slow-mo and applying blending modes • Correct and enhance videos and images using Color Adjustments tools • Add motion to layers using Keyframe Animation tool Nowadays, with the existence of new technology, different skills can be developed and one of these is Art skills. This skill includes the following: 1. Drawing a picture digitally 2. Capturing, saving, inserting, and transporting photographs (Photography) 3. Capturing, editing, and uploading videos (Videography) 4. Making graphic arts and design 5. Designing a web page Answer the following questions in your notebook. 1. How does a computer hardware differ from a computer software? 2. What other examples of computer hardware and computer software that were not mentioned? Give at least three (3) for each component. s you think using a new technology can develop a skill? Explain your answer. 3. Do E. Engagement (Time Frame: 5 minutes) Learning Task 3 Identify the following words as software, hardware, or skill. Write your answer in your notebook. 1. Flash drive- ______________ 2. Paint application - _____________ 3. Editing pictures - ________________ 4. Designing a web page - ___________ 5. Keyboard - ____________ 6. Create visual effects - __________ 7. Assimilation (Time Frame: 10 minutes) Learning Task 4 Read and analyze the quote below. Write your idea or insight about the concept of technology and art. Explain your answer in at least 2-3 sentences. Write your explanation in your notebook. https://tinyurl.com/dn8vjtv3 Rubric: Indicators 5 4 3 2 Statements are convincing. Spelling of words and grammar are accurate. V. ASSESSMENT (Time Frame: 5 minutes) (Learning Activity Sheets for Enrichment, Remediation, or Assessment to be given on Weeks 3 and 6) Learning Task 5 Read each statement carefully. Write True if it is correct and False if it is not. Then, underline the word/s that made the statement incorrect. Do this in your notebook. 1. Application software is designed for the users to utilize programs such as office suites, word processors, image editors, graphic design, and communication platforms. 2. New art forms can be created by adding digital enhancement. 3. Computer software is the physical part of the computer. 4. Using technology, we can still develop our art skills. 5. When using technology to design something, we cannot use the elements and principles of art. VI. REFLECTION (Time Frame: _________) • Communicate your personal assessment as indicated in the Learner’s Assessment Card. Personal Assessment on Learner’s Level of Performance Using the symbols below, choose one which best describes your experience in working on each given task. Draw it in the column for Level of Performance (LP). Be guided by the descriptions below: - I was able to do/perform the task without any difficulty. The task helped me in understanding the target content/ lesson. ✓ - I was able to do/perform the task. It was quite challenging, but it still helped me in understanding the target content/lesson. ? – I was not able to do/perform the task. It was extremely difficult.
