Is the journey more important than the destination? Sit back relax and think deeply. I am not here to answer this question because there is no wrong answer and there is never one right answer. Oliver Goldsmith once said, “Life is a journey that must be travelled no matter how bad the roads and accommodations.” “The journey is the destination. That’s what you have to tell people”. Audie Cornish “The importance of a journey is not measured by the distance covered, but by the destination reached”. Narendra Modi “The destination is more important than the journey” Diane Sawyer All those are quotes written by great philosophers of our modern world, and what you acknowledge while reading each one of them is that their opinions are mixed. Is it the journey? Is it the destination? “Success is a journey, not a destination. The doing is often more important than the outcome.” Focusing on the journey also shines a light on what else you get out of trying to reach your goals. You might not even need to reach your goal to be successful. But somehow, somewhere along the way, the destination becomes more important than the journey. We get so wrapped up in our processes, in completing each step, that we forget to experience the stops along the way. We have all been trained that the steps we take are simply a means to get to our destination. Every day, we set our alarms to get up, go through our morning routines, and get to work on time. Throughout the day we check off each step in our To Do List, in order to reach the time, we get to go home. We set annual, monthly, weekly and daily goals in order to make sure we get to our goals.
