Celebrating Valentines in the midst of Preliminary Examination Around the globe, February 14 has always been special than any other day. In line with the celebration of Valentines, The Lewis College Higher Education Department uphold a two day event promoting Lewisians to participate and enjoy. The school required students and faculty members to wear a specific color of their T-shirt, polo shirt,etc. prior to their status. Red means Inlove or In a Relationship, White as Single and Contented, Green as Moving On, Black as Heartbroken, Pink as Single and Looking, Violet as No BF/GF since birth, and Blue as Complicated. The campus was filled with colorful shirts worn by the students and faculty members. On the other hand, the Student Council, Future Educators Organization(FEO), Young Businessmen Club(YBC), and Computer Society(CS) officers think of an Income Generating Project(IGP) where Lewisians can enjoy midst of having Preliminary Exams. The Student Council’s IGP was Pop It to Win It, where the mechanics of the game is, when an individual popped a balloon (using a dart) it has a corresponding prize in it, either a flower, chocolates or the grand prize (2 movie tickets). And others are Photo Booth and Love Board. While the FEO’s IGP was selling of heart candies and artificial flowers located at their main office. In the YBC, their IGP was Marriage Booth and Serenade Booth, where the band Bare Minimum(1st placer in Battle of the Bands) will serenade a specific individual wherever they are. And the CS’ IGP was selling of stuff toys and plants located at TLC Gymnasium. It is indeed a wonderful and engaging day even though it was an Examination Day to all Lewisians. In Day 2 (February 14, 2023) of the Valentines celebration, The Lewis College Higher Education Department held a seminar in relation with the Valentine’s Day “ Love, Courtship, and Marriage Seminar” at The Lewis College Gymnasium, starting from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, which was hosted by Mr. Jerry Glenn Castillo, assistant to the Students Affairs and Services Office. In the first part of the seminar, Ms. Kyla Sarmiento, a BSED Major in English student, introduced the first speaker which was Dr. Alfred Adrian O. Lopez, senior Pastor of the Victory Church. He had a very interesting and informative discussion about Love, Courtship, and Marriage. He also answered the clarifications and questions of some selected students (Mr. Darius Ervado, BSED English student, Ms. Janica Woodward, BSED English student, Mr Axel Hermosa, BSBA Financial Management student, and Mr. John Carlo Agripa, BSED English student) in the “Open Forum” part of the seminar, which was led by Ms. Kristine Cacanta (SC President) and Mr. John Jovic Loreno (SC Secretary). As for the second speaker, she was introduced by Ms. Aubery De Guzman, a BSBA-Financial Management student. Ms. Katherine Formento, Project Field Coordinator and part of the Family Planning Org of the Philippines, had an inspirational and informative discussion about Responsible Parenthood, Family Planning, and Parenting Tips. She also answered the questions of some selected students (Ms. Mariane Bocalin, BSBA-Financial Management, and Ms. Aubrey De Guzman, BSBA-Financial Management) in the “Open Forum” part of the seminar. The Lewisians, in all odds, accumulated new knowledge and enlightenment about Love, Marriage, and also on becoming a Responsible Parent. Mrs. Elvie Brucelo, head of the Student Affairs and Services Office, had her closing remarks as well as her words of appreciation and gratitude to the speakers, guests, and the people that made the event possible. As for the last part, the Lewisians gathered to their respective department secretaries for their attendance. Because for The Lewis College, Attendance is a Must.
