Personification
Personification is when writers give nonhuman objects human qualities.
Directions: Circle the object being personified. Underlined the words that
show personification.
Example: The buttery popcorn was calling my name!
1. As soon as the booth opened, the tickets to the new movie flew out
the window.
2. Even though I knew I already had enough snacks, the pretzel tiptoed
onto my tray at the snack counter.
3. The old chair groaned as the boy sat down.
4. We heard the rain hammering on the roof during the
movie.
5. The bubbles in the soda danced and tickled the girl’s face.
6. As we headed home after the movie, the stars in the
clear night sky winked at us.
