CYCLING OF MATERIAL
MOST ABUNDANT (75%) IN
OUR PLANET
WATER CYCLE
WATER CYCLE
• It is the continuous flow of water in an
ecosystem.
• It is also known as the hydrological cycle.
• It includes movement of water through the
land, atmosphere, and to the bodies of
water.
• It is essential because it supports life to
both plants and animals
GUESS THE MAIN DRIVER OF WATER
CYCLE.
IT’S THE SUN!
PROCESSES INVOLVED:
EVAPORATION
CONDENSATION
PRECIPITATION
INFILTRATION
SURFACE RUN-OFF
EVAPORATION
• It happens in bodies of water
where water rises to the
atmosphere and changes its
state from liquid to gas.
• Water in plants escape on the
stomata of the leaves are also
evaporated and as called as
“transpiration”.

Does iceberg could be a
source of water in
evaporation?
CONDENSATION
• It occurs in the atmosphere where water vapor
condenses to form clouds.
• The water turns into a condensate where vapor loses
its heat and turns into liquid freezing water.
• There are particles needed in cloud formation:
smoke, dust, and sea salts. This will help to
aggregate those condensate water to form massive
clouds in the sky.

In previous lessons, what
type of cloud does bring
heaviest amount of water
that has gray to black
color?
PRECIPITATION
• It is a water that falls back to the earth
because of the gravity or once the
cloud full of water cannot hold the
amount sustainably.
• It is either in the form of rain, snow,
hail, sleet or fog.

What do you think is the
cause why Philippines
experiences rain as most
common type of
precipitation?
INFILTRATION
• It is a process where precipitated
water seeps through the soils.
• It goes on the underground layer of
rocks that can hold groundwater that
is called as “aquifers”.

What do you think is the source of
water of this pump? Does the source
of it is unlimited?
SURFACE RUN-OFF
• It is a process where precipitated
water cannot seeps through the
soil as it carried a lot thus it flows
across the surface or ground of it.

Imagine the water that flows
through the ground suddenly
confine on the ground. What do
you think will happen if more
water will confine or flow to the
ground?
IMPORTANCE OF WATER CYCLE
1. Availability of water to supply
plants (for food production) and
animals (hydration).
2. Regulates weather pattern in our
atmosphere.
LET’S HAVE AN ACTIVITY!
Directions: Complete the water cycle using the words from
the box. Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper.
LET’S BE CREATIVE!
Directions: On a given bond paper, create a diagram about
water cycle and the processes include.
LET’S PONDER THINGS!
What do you think is the importance of water cycle in providing
life in our ecosystem as well as how it affects us on our daily
lives
