Anxiety Disorders

Generalized Anxiety Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by excessive and
persistent worry and anxiety about everyday events or activities, even when there is no
apparent reason for concern.

Panic Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by recurring and unexpected panic
attacks, which are sudden episodes of intense fear or discomfort.

Specific Phobia - a mental health disorder characterized by an intense and irrational fear of
a particular object or situation, such as heights, spiders, or enclosed spaces.

Social Anxiety Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by intense and persistent
fear of social situations, often accompanied by physical symptoms such as sweating and
palpitations.

Separation Anxiety Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by excessive fear or
anxiety about separation from a person or place that provides feelings of safety or security.
Trauma and Stress Related Disorders
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder - a mental health disorder that can occur in people
who have experienced or witnessed a traumatic event, such as a natural disaster, war, or
violent crime.

Acute Stress Disorder - a mental health disorder that can occur in people who have
experienced or witnessed a traumatic event and involves symptoms such as anxiety,
dissociation, and nightmares.

Adjustment Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by emotional or
behavioral symptoms in response to a stressful life event, such as divorce or job loss.

Obsessive Compulsive and Related
Disorders
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by recurring and
unwanted thoughts, images, or impulses (obsessions) that lead to repetitive behaviors or
mental acts (compulsions) to reduce anxiety.

Body Dysmorphic Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by preoccupation with
an imagined or slight defect in appearance, leading to significant distress or impairment in daily
functioning.

Hoarding Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by persistent difficulty
discarding or parting with possessions, regardless of their actual value, leading to accumulation
of clutter that impairs living spaces.

Trichotillomania - a mental health disorder characterized by recurrent pulling out of hair,
leading to hair loss and significant distress or impairment in daily functioning.

Excoriation Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by recurrent skin picking
resulting in skin lesions, leading to significant distress or impairment in daily functioning.

Somatic Symptom and Related Disorders
Somatic Symptom Disorder - diagnosed when a person has a significant focus
on physical symptoms, such as pain, weakness or shortness of breath, to a level
that results in major distress and/or problems functioning.
 Illness Anxiety Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by excessive
worry and preoccupation with having or acquiring a serious illness, despite
minimal or no actual symptoms.
 Conversion Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by the presence
of neurological symptoms, such as paralysis or blindness, that cannot be
explained by medical testing or examination.
 Factitious Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by deliberate
fabrication or exaggeration of physical or psychological symptoms for the
purpose of assuming a sick role.

Mood Disorders
Major Depressive Disorder - a mental disorder characterized by persistent
feelings of sadness or hopelessness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities, and other
emotional, behavioral, and physical symptoms.
 Persistent Depressive Disorder (Dysthymia) - a mental health disorder
characterized by a chronic and persistent low mood, with symptoms that are milder
but more long-lasting than major depressive disorder.
 Bipolar I Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by episodes of mania
or hypomania alternating with periods of depression.
 Bipolar II Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by episodes of
hypomania alternating with periods of depression.
 Cyclothymia – mental disorder characterized by episodes consisting of hypomanic
and depressive symptoms that do not meet the full criteria for bipolar or major
depressive disorder.

Eating Disorders
Anorexia Nervosa - a mental disorder characterized by an intense fear of gaining
weight or becoming fat, leading to severe weight loss and other physical and psychological
symptoms.

Bulimia Nervosa - a mental disorder characterized by episodes of binge eating
followed by purging behaviors such as vomiting or use of laxatives.

Binge Eating Disorder - a mental health disorder characterized by recurrent episodes
of binge eating without purging behaviors, leading to increased weight


Pica - mental disorder where a person compulsively swallows non-food items.
