BSED-E An Approach to the English Language The English Language is considered to be the universal language in which it is the most used Language around the world, with it reaching in almost every part of the world. So, what makes the English language so special? Why was it labelled to be the universal Language? One of the reasons why it was labelled as a universal language is because of its flexibility in which anyone can easily learn it. The British Empire’s influence around the world caused a history of learning and made most of every country speak and understand English. Even now, the English language continues to show its impact on the world. But learning a new language isn’t always easy for everyone, that is why a good teacher is the key to better English learning. As future educators, we must know what are the certain ways we can help and teach our students in a way that will increase their skills in obtaining the information they are being given. When teaching the English language, it is much better to start by showing the alphabet and its sounds in order for the students to have a better grasp of how it will be used in the language. With the new information obtained, they can now continue learning through other approaches such as the communicative approach and aural-oral approach. The aural-oral approach means ‘hearing’ and oral means ‘speaking.’ Therefore, the auraloral approach would be learning language through hearing and speaking. This approach can help the learner identify sounds and recognize the corresponding sounds to specific letters or words. It will navigate them into speaking the language more effectively. In a communicative approach, the learner will be able to learn the English language by communicating and understanding how the use of the language is used in conversations. The learner will observe how English speakers communicate and they will also be participating in this approach in which they will use their acquired knowledge. This will Campos, Gianray C. BSED-E help them create connections on how the language works and it will also help them learn new words that will also be able to use in the language. They can do this approach with the help of watching videos of people speaking English, or in some cases by watching English-speaking films in order to embrace the language more. This type of approach is most commonly effective among children wherein they are exposed to the English language through videos and the people interacting with them. In conclusion, learning the English language might not be easy for some people. But there are plenty of ways how they will be able to absorb the knowledge of the English language. Embracing the English language can also be one of the great motivators to pursue learning it. It will be the key to entering a new world of possibilities and opportunities around the world.
