effects of the sun’s heat and light.
Ask the learners to describe each picture.
Pupils will sing the song.
What can you see in the picture? Describe what you
see in the picture.
1.
Plants need sun’s heat and light in order to grow
and produce food.

psoriasis.
Psoriasis- the skin sheds its cells too
quickly.
It causes sunburn and skin cancer
E. Discussion
 In what way is the sun beneficial to plants,
animals and humans?
Plants can make their own food through the
presence of sunlight in the photosynthetic
process. Likewise animals and humans need the
sun’s heat and light energy in order to survive.
With the presence of sunlight, humans can do a
lot of activities such as laundry, harvesting,
drying of crops, fishing and drying of fishes and
recreational activities like outing/ picnics.
Both farmers and fishermen use the sun’s
heat in drying crops and fishes.

In what way is the sun’s heat and light
harmful to living things?
Helps in some skin condition like
psoriasis.
Psoriasis- the skin sheds its cells too
quickly.
Used by plants to make their food.
Too much exposure to UV can cause
damage to the immune system.
One’s skin will age early.
Excessive exposure to sunlight can burn or
harm the skin. This is called sunburn. Too much
heat of the sun can cause the withering of the
plants and eventually they die. Animals are badly
affected when there is no food for them and
exposure to intense heat can cause them to
become ill and eventually die.
We should not look directly at the sun
because it can damage our eyes.
The soil will become very dry and can crack
causing the plants to die. Farming also is not
possible
F. Analysis
 What are the beneficial effects of the
sun’s heat and light to the living things?
The sun is the source of all energy, gives off
heat and light. Plants, animals and humans can
survive because of the sun’s heat that warms
the earth.

What are the harmful effects of the sun’s Too much exposure to sunlight can cause
sunburn and skin cancer. Looking at the sun
heat and light to the living things?
directly can cause visual impairment. Too much
heat from the sun can cause heat stroke. Too
much sunlight can cause a plant’s withering and
lead to its death.

What can we get in the sun?
Very good!
The energy the we can get in the sun can be
converted into electricity.
Energy

EPP or TLE Sir

In what particular subject we can find
electricity?
Very Good!
In high school this is electricity subject under
TLE.
Is electricity Important to us? Why?

Very Good!
Yes, Sir
Electricity is very important in our daily life it feels
us comfortable.
G. Abstraction

In what way is the sun’s heat and light be Sun’s heat and light are beneficial because it
help plants, animals and humans to survive. It
beneficial and harmful?
is harmful because it can cause a plant’s wither
and lead to its death and the effects of too much
heat of the sun to the humans can cause heat
stroke or sunburn, and to much exposure to
intense heat can lead the animals become ill
and eventually die.
H. Application

The Boy scouts and Girl scouts of the
Philippines will be conducting a National
Jamborette and most of the activities will
be held in the field. As an active scouter,
how are you going to protect yourself
from the exposure of the heat of the sun?
As a scouter, I will make sure that I will
observe all the precautionary measures to
avoid any harmful effects of the sun to myself.
During outdoor activities I will apply sun block
lotion to my body and I will wear shirt with long
sleeves and wear a hat. I will also bring a
bottle water to keep my body hydrated.
IV. Evaluation

sun.
1. You can get sunburned on a cloudy day. TRUE
