Bell Ringer: From Appeasement To War
Students will go to FOCUS and download today’s Bell Ringer: “From Appeasement To War.” Students
will turn to page(s) 738 to 740 and read “Aggression Goes Unchecked.” Then students will answer the
follow-up question, “Describe the German, Italian, and Japanese drives for empire?” with at least a
four-sentence paragraph response.
Japan seized Manchuria in 1931 and invaded eastern China in 1937. Italy
invaded Ethiopia in 1935 and conquered it the following year. Hitler built up
the German military and sent troop into the Rhineland. Italy and Germany
still suffered the effects of the war, and Japan wanted to further the power it
had gained during wartime
