Speaker: Bradform Wineman, a professor of military history
at the Army Command and General Staff College. Iraq war
veteran
Occasion: 2023
Audience: People for a draft
Purpose: To argue against the draft and disprove it's
usefulness
1. Evaluate the author’s argument: Do you agree or disagree? Why?
The draft is unnecessary because:
1. The draft is unnecessary because the military is already fulfilling enlistment quotas and a draft
would lower the average capability of a soldier
2. Rich people often avoid drafts leading to only poor people in the military which causes civic
unrest instead of unity, drafts put a greater burden on poor and uneducated (No source provided)

military, giving his opinions and facts credibility
2.
leGive a specific outside piece of evidence to support your perspective on the topic (paraphrase/use
key term or concept from your research topic).
In addition, a draft can inflict the mental burdens of military service towards more of the population

3. Explain why your evidence (from #2) supports your perspective (from #1) on the article.
Enlistment quotas for the military are already being met, forcing people to serve in the military will

causes unnecessary burdens to society
