I hope that by the end of this presentation, you will have a deeper understanding of pover ty and the actions we can take to combat it. poverty 3 What is poverty Po ve r t y i s a p ro b l e m i n w h i c h human beings do not have enough money to have basic needs like meals, housing, and healthcare because of the lack of sanitation. It could have an effect on human's health and possibilities in life. Many people die eac h month from dehydration, star vation and illness. It could also affect people's education as most people in poverty can't read as they have a lac k of books because of the costs and they may need to stay home to look after their family whic h means they could never get the opportunity to go to school. Who does it affect Poverty affects a wide range of people across the world, but it tends to have a more significant impact on vulnerable populations such as women, children, elderly individuals, and those living in rural or marginalized communities. Poverty often leads to a lack of access to basic needs such as food, shelter, healthcare, and education, which can result in poor health outcomes, limited job opportunities, and social isolation. Furthermore, poverty can be an adverse problem, as it can lead to a lack of resources and opportunities for future generations, perpetuating the cycle of poverty. Therefore, poverty affects not only individuals but also entire communities and societies, highlighting the urgent need for effective solutions to address this global issue. poverty 5 HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN GOING ON FOR? Throughout history, poverty has been a problem due to inadequate access to resources. As societies developed, a small group of people became wealthy, while others had to work hard to survive without the help of the rich. In some societies, poverty was blamed on the poor, rather than the governmental structure. Poverty has taken different forms over time, such as during the industrial revolution and the 20th century. Even after all this time today, millions of people still live in extreme poverty, lacking basic necessities. Despite efforts to address poverty, more work is needed to ensure that everyone has equal opportunities to succeed. poverty 6 WHAT WILL HAPPE N IF NOTHING IS DONE ABOUT THIS ? WHAT ARE THE SOLUTIONS FOR POVERTY? Reducing poverty involves addressing a range of social, economic, and political factors such as lack of access to basic services, limited economic opportunities, discrimination, environmental degradation, and political instability. A good approach to this involves multiple groups such as governments and civil society organizations to help. An efficiant way to do this is to focus solving problems individually, some such problems are; education, social safety nets, job creation, empowering women, addressing inequality, promoting sustainable development, good governance and more can help to reduce poverty sustainably and substantially. poverty 8 SUMMARY In conclusion, pover ty is a complex issue that affects millions of people around the wor ld.
