Exam Guidance Statements
Dear Students,
The exam period is fast approaching! So, please see below some generic advices on the
examination!
Prior to the examination
1. I have created a subdirectory “End of Session review: multiple choice exercises”
under the Resources Section of Interact. You should read and practice on these
examples.
2. Carefully go through the Sample Exam given in the Subject Outline and familiarize
yourself with the format of the exam.
3. There is little time for formal revision at the end of semester, so you must revise as
you go along.
4. Know what to expect for each exam—ask your tutor and lecturer if you are unsure.
5. Repetition is the key to remembering, so revise often and in a variety of ways to
reinforce your memory
6. After you have studied and think you know the material, practice it under test
conditions. Solve unassigned homework problems and see if you can finish them in
the allotted time for the exam.
7. Remember to check your exam timetable very carefully and make sure that you
know when and where each exam is taking place. Misreading the timetable will NOT
be regarded as extenuating circumstance if you are late to an exam or miss an exam.
During the examination
1. Read through the whole exam and carefully read the instructions. Often students
know how to solve a problem, but they misinterpret the question.
2. Organise your time effectively i.e. allocate time for each question.
3. Always answer the full number of questions. Even if you think you know nothing
about a topic, you might get a few marks by making some sensible comments,
remember any unanswered questions score zero.
4. Try to leave some time to review your answers at the end.
