Physics 2010 – Week 1 and 2 Notes For the first two weeks we will cover the first 4 chapters in the textbook. We start off a liAle slow and then pick up speed as we go along. First Week Chapter 1: This is mostly background informaIon, not emphasized as much. Chapter2: Uniform moIon, velocity, acceleraIon, graphing The Wednesday and Friday learning assignments will come mostly from Chapter 2 Second Week Chapter 3: We start looking more closely at vectors moIon in one and two dimensions. This chapter menIons circular moIon, but we will have a full chapter on that later. Chapter 4: We introduce vectors and Newton’s laws. We do more with this in Chapter 5. The Wednesday learning assignment will come from both chapters 3 and 4. The Monday Physics of the Body learning assignment will be “How the Body Detects AcceleraIon.” You can read about this from the textbook, listen to the podcast of watch the webinar. The PTOHB text can be downloaded from the syllabus, but it is in the email as well. The block exam on the second Friday in lecture will be on Chapter 1-4. I have sent sample problems for you to work on. These will help you for the physics related in class learning assignments. Your TA’s will help you. You can also look at similar problems in the textbook. For the Physics of the Human Body’s in class learning assignment, you should look at the review problems at the end of the chapter in the POTCH text to help guide you. Remember that the exam problems do not ‘look like’ the chapter problems of these sample problems. MCAT type quesIons are divided into group and discrete problems. You should look at the links provided online found on the syllabus to become familiar with their format. Also, I will post a pracIce test on Friday for you to look at.
