Without language, we cannot pass on information to another person. According to Dwijatmoko (2013), Syntax is the branch of linguistics words to form sentence. The writer Bell considers syntax essential to his teaching because he studies the order of words to form phrases, and sentences. By knowing the structure of language, students will learn about types of words, types of sentences, and how to form words in a sentence. In this paper I would like to discuss about the use of grammar to improve students' grammar in writing. 2. What Is The Syntax? Syntax comes from Greek word "syntaxis" syn (together) + taxis (arrangement). Syntax: is the part of linguistics that studies sentence structure. 3. Some Researches On Writing Some researches suggest that the most useful way to help students improve their mastery of grammar in writing is to use students' writing as a basis for discussing grammatical concepts. For example, a teacher who sees that many students write sentences with misplaced modifiers can offer a small lesson on the concept, using examples from the students' writing. The teacher can ask the students to modify their drafts and each other's drafts for this problem. Incorporating grammar instructions into the review and editing process helps students make immediate applications, allowing them to see how well the grammar fits into their writing. 4. Sentence Combining In Improving Writing The strategy of merging short sentences with long sentences, for example, when she was younger, she believed in fairy tales. Thus, they will learn how to change the structure of the sentence in terms of changing the meaning and style. This is based on many studies, including the study of (Million 1969, O'Hare 1973, Cooper 1975, Chauncey 1977, Hilux 1986, Strong 1986). This is an effective method for improving students' writing. 5. Some Strategies That Can Be Used To Teach Grammar In The Context Of Writing Grammar Integrating comments is the strategy in which the student presents his topic to the teacher for review and modification, and then reads his topic out loud in front of the students to discuss their opinions and observation until the proofreading of the writing process is complete. 6. Conclusion We conclude that grammar can be used to improve students' grammar in writing. When students know the types of phrases and sentence patterns, they can understand how to form a good grammatical sentence. 7. References -Khalid A. khateeb, Akmajian, et.al. 2001.
