Okay,____________ please give us a summary on our previous discussion Yes , thank you (Everybody is raising their right hand) Yes ma’am, last meeting we tackled about biotic and abiotic factors. When we say biotic it pertains to all living components in our ecosystem while abiotic are all non living components in our ecosystem. C. MOTIVATION To start our lesson, I will be showing you a video about our country’s beautiful and eye catching Downloaded by eric john (umind517@gmail.com) lOMoARcPSD|25033400 tourist destinations . Now all you have to do is to observe and be quite while watching. Yes ma’am D. PRESENTATION/DISCUSSION Okay class, what have you notice or observe in the video you have watch? Yes! Exactly . our country is blessed with rich natural resources starting from the varied physical feature down to our diverse plant and animal forms. Talking about how lucky we are in the Philippines to have such beautiful things , what can you associate with the word “RESOURCES”? We were able to see and visit and explore our country’s beautiful destinations and its resources . We notice that we have plenty of natural resources found in the Philippine archipelago. RESOURCES are the things available or can be found around us which we use for different purposes. Very good, another idea from the class? Resources are things that can be used to support ,help or needed in our life. Very good student! Based on your answers, we can define resources as things used and needed by people in order to survive or satisfy our needs. Anybody or anyone in the class ,who want to give examples of resources? Very good! (Answers may varies from the student) Example can be: water, plants, animals, soil, rocks, minerals, oil, fuels, wind or air, house, jewelry, money and etc. Resources such as air or wind, water, sunlight, soil, plants ,animals, fossil fuels and gas are considered as resources because they are already available in our in our nature. Now, since we are talking about resources , our which is the Philippines as an archipelago , is considered to be rich in natural resources. Lets name out the natural resources of our country. We are blessed to have the abundant water forms. What are the water forms by the way? Rivers, falls, lakes, swamps, bays and ocean. What do you think of the importance of these water forms? These bodies of water support the survival of all organisms for food as well as for economic activities. Yes! The presence of water in specific environment is said to be accountable for supporting high biodiversity in that area. Biodiversity means the presence of various types of organisms such as Downloaded by eric john (umind517@gmail.com) lOMoARcPSD|25033400 plant and animal life in a particular area or habitat. Can we name some of the plants and animals that can be found in our country? (Students answer may varies) Those animal species that you have mentioned are all common Since our country is also rich in biodiversity, Philippines is considered also to be home of endangered species which can only found only in a certain area not in other places. What endemic species or endangered species do you know that exist only in our country and where can we find them particularly? Tarsier in Bohol, tamaraw in Mindoro, mouse deer (pilandok) in palawan and etc. Very good! We also have these mineral deposit in our country, what mineral do you know? Where do you think these minerals can be found and located? (Student answer may vary) Gold, silver, copper, iron, manganese, nickel, sand , limestone, marble and clay Some are found near the volcanoes, rocks ,near beaches and rivers and underground. These minerals are classified as metallic and nonmetallic. Gold, copper, iron, manganese and nickel are metallic mineral . Marble, clay, and silica are some example also of non-metallic minerals we have in our country. Where do you think these minerals used? Yes,indeed Mineral deposits can be found were volcanoes or trenches are present.we have many volcanoes in our country and some of them are active. Can you name some of the famous volcano found in our country? Because of the presence of numerous volcanoes in our place, our country belongs to the “pacific ring of fire” Aside from that we also have energy resources . What do you think are those energy resources? We use them everywhere, in our home, school, buildings,in the farm and other more places. (answer may vary) Mt. Mayon volcano,Taal and Mt. Pinatubo We have solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, hydrothermal energy and natural gas Very good students! E. PRACTICE We have already familiarize ourselves with the natural resources we have in our country. Downloaded by eric john (umind517@gmail.com) lOMoARcPSD|25033400 Today, we are going to brainstorm on how people destroy natural resources Now, I want everybody to group themselves according to your class seats(row) then form a circle . (students are starting to form their group) Now, you are going to select your leader, secretary and 2 reporters from your group Listen for the instructions. I will be showing you some illustrations. You will be shown a “before” and “after” of a certain situations or activities. Afterwards, you are going to determine the effects of those activities to our natural resources. Take note on the illustration given to you because each group have specific assigned illustrations given to you. Did you get it? Yes ma’am! So I will give the illustrations together with the materials ,cartolina paper, marker inside.on the cartolina there is a column for human activity that is already written and on the other column is the effects. You are going to write down the effects on the cartolina provided under”effects”.The reporters in your group will discuss your work after in front of the class. (student will open the envelope) Okay , you can start now and after 10 minutes reporting will follow. (present “before” and “after”of a certain situation or activities in PPT ) Group 1 When roads are built , mountains are blown off using dynamite. Group 2 Rice fields are turned into commercial and residential centers. Group 3 People cut trees for lumber or paper or building houses. Downloaded by eric john (umind517@gmail.com) lOMoARcPSD|25033400 GROUP 4 Mining and quarrying for the purpose of getting precious metals and gravel or stones. Plastics , garbage and chemicals are thrown into the bodies of water. Group 5 Now that you already visualize the people destroy natural resources , you can now start writing down the effects. (students performs the activity) 10 minutes stats now! (After performing the activity) May I request all groups to paste your output on the board and start the reporting . (Group reporting) (Somebody from the other groups will ask the reporter) Anybody who has more questions to the group? As we can see, nature provided us with the rich natural resources which are very necessary to us . In return let us protect and conserve the richness of the country’s natural resources. IV. EVALUATION DIRECTION: In a 1/2 sheet of paper, make an essay on how to conserve and protect natural resources, what can you do to make it happen? V. ASSIGNMENT Write or make a poem or song about protecting and conserving our natural resources .you can write it on a A4 size of bond paper.Deadline is until June 10,2022.
