AHSAA Section 1 1A, 2A, 3A April 28-29, 2023 Location: Covington County Schools Track, 22940 AL Highway 55, Andalusia, AL 36474 Time: Friday April 28, 11:00 am. Saturday April 29, 10:00 am. Meet Fees: $150 per gender, $20 per individual athlete. ($300 for both boys and girls teams) Please bring the check to the meet. Please do not mail your check. Make checks payable to Straughn High School. Entry: All entries will be done through al.milesplit.com. All entry marks must have been achieved during the 2023 season and be submitted to al.milesplit.com. Entered athletes not having marks in al.milesplit.com will be given a NT and seeded accordingly. There is a maximum of three athletes per event and one relay team per school. Each athlete may compete in a maximum of four events. Entry Deadline: Tuesday, April 25 at 2:00 pm (Central) ENTRIES, SCRATCHES, AND SUBSTITUTIONS PAST THIS TIME WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Admission: $7.00 a person per day, spectators must wear armbands to gain access to the track. Spectators will enter at the Main Gate. Spectators are not allowed on the infield, they must be outside of the track to watch field events taking place on the infield. Bus Parking: Buses will be permitted to drop off athletes at the North Entrance of the Facility. Buses must park at the South End of the facility near the Cross Country Trail Starting Line. Packets: Packets may be picked up at the Coaches Meeting. Athletes and coaches must wear armbands to be admitted in the track area. Teams will receive 3 coaches meal tickets per day in your packet. Coaches and athletes must wear their armband both Friday and Saturday. Do not remove it until the meet is over. Tents: All visiting team tents will be located around the South End of the Facility. No tents will be located inside of the track fence. Teams will not be allowed in the track stands. NO TENTS ALLOWED IN THE STANDS. Coaches: Coaches must present a valid coaching card when picking up packets. Armbands will only be given to coaches with valid coaching cards. There will be a coaches meeting on the pole vault runway at 10:00 am on Friday. Coaches meeting will be at 9:00 am on Saturday. Spikes: ¼ inch pyramid spikes, no needles. Implements: All throwing implements must be weighed in prior to the competition; the implement then becomes the property of the field and must remain until the event is over. Implement weigh in will begin at 9:00 am and stop at 10:45 am. Implement weigh in will be located the main storage area inside the facility.. Pole Vaulters must weigh-in and have poles inspected before competition. Coaches must also sign a pole vault verification statement before athletes are allowed to compete. Protest Fee: A $25.00 cash protest fee will be required for any objections to the meet referee’s decision. This includes all rereads on finish photos. We will compile a Jury of Appeals for the meet. We will choose 3 coaches from those schools competing to be jury members. Those chosen will rule as follows: 2A for 4A, 3A for 2A, and 4A for 3A issues. Qualifying: Top five in each event (assuming that minimums have been made) qualify for the State Meet. Wildcards and open spots TBD. Please refer to the AHSAA Sports Book for minimum standards in each event. Scoring: (10,8,6,5,4,3,2,1) points will be awarded to the top 8 places. The top 3 in each event will receive medals. The top two teams in each classification will receive trophies. Concessions: There will be a full concessions each day at the meet. Running Events Running events will be run by Section with the exception of hurdle races, which will be run by gender.
