1 Procedure
1.1
Scope
The scope of this procedure is to provide a work procedure to carry out the jointing and installation of 600 mm
Diameter Make‐Up Water RTRP pipes through steel pipe casing/sleeves Diameter ‐‐‐‐‐‐‐mm.
The procedure written in this Method Statement is as complete as possible; it is not possible to describe
all kinds of circumstances that may be encountered in the field. For this reason our experienced Supervisor may
vary the described procedure in order to achieve an optimum solution using the latest hydro testing techniques
and processing methods.
1.2
Procedure
1.
The required numbers of the RTRP Carrier pipes for the road crossing will be bonded, and driven through
the sleeve pipe as per following steps, the sleeve ends shall be left open during hydro test; so, it would be visible
if any water leakage would take place for the laminated joints inside the sleeve pipe.
2.
RTRP pipes shall be fitted with plastic centralizers with bottom piece fixed with aluminium roller wheels
to facilitate smooth insertion. Centralizers will be fixed with maximum as spacing of 2.0 meters.

3.
The RTRP pipe shall be aligned to the steel pipe sleeve by using crane or similar lifting equipment.
4.
The first pipe should be fitted with a rope or nylon slings passing through the steel sleeve which will be
used for pulling the pipe on the other side of the steel sleeve to facilitate ease of insertion while being pushed
from the other end.
5.
Insert the first pipe into the steel sleeve leaving a length enough to carry out the lamination joint.
6.
Laminations joint shall be carried as per the approved field lamination joints procedures.
7.
All joints inside the sleeve casing pipes should Lamination joints

8.
After completion of the lamination joints ensuring proper curing by heating blanket, the connected RTRP
pipes shall be pushed manually by an excavator, Side boom or similar heavy equipment, or by mean of Come
along Jacks.
9.
Appropriate care shall be taken to avoid damage of RTRP carrier pipe when inserting/sliding into the
sleeve/casing pipe.
10.
Appropriate lubricants may be used to avoid rubbing/scratching of carrier pipe when inserted into the
sleeve/casing pipe.
11.
After successful insertion of the first 2 jointed pipes, repeat steps 5 to 8 unit all the required RTRP pipes
are inserted through and through the steel sleeve.
12.
Ensure that the roller wheels of the centralizers are in contact with the sleeve/casing pipe.
13.
The cased RTRP shall be tested as per Hydrotest procedure.
15.
In case joined RTRP inside the sleeve is to be moved, it is recommended to apply only a pushing force in
either ends at a maximum displacement distance of 3 meters.

pipe.
After successful completion of hydrotest, the end sleeves to be installed between Carrier and Sleeve
17.
The RTR Sleeved section to be then jointed to the main line for the purpose of main line hydro test.
