As I traveled back to my hometown for the Eid vacation last month, I had no idea that I was about to experience a scary event that would leave me shaken for days to come. It was a journey I had taken many times before, and I felt comfortable traveling alone, even at night. However, this time, the journey was going to be different. The journey started out fine, and I was enjoying the cool night breeze as I drove along the highway. However, as I approached a particularly dark stretch of the road, I noticed a group of men standing by the side of the road. At first, I thought nothing of it, but as I got closer, I realized that they were not just standing there, but they were also staring at me intently. As I drove past them, I felt a chill run down my spine. It was as if their eyes were following me, and I could feel their gaze burning into my back. I tried to shake off the feeling and continued driving, but I couldn't shake off the unease that had settled in me. Just a few miles down the road, I noticed that my car was starting to slow down, and the engine was making an odd noise. I panicked, as I realized that I was in the middle of nowhere, with no one around to help me. I quickly pulled over to the side of the road and tried to assess the problem. Stepping out of the car, I realized that the group of men that I had seen earlier had followed me. They had surrounded me, and I could feel their menacing presence all around me. They started to approach me, and I could hear their voices whispering something inaudible. I felt a surge of fear and dread wash over me. I was stranded on the side of the road with no way to defend myself, and these men seemed intent on causing me harm. My heart was pounding in my chest, and my hands were shaking as I tried to think of a way out of this situation. Suddenly, a car pulled up behind me, and the driver got out to see if I needed any help. The men quickly dispersed and disappeared into the darkness, and I breathed a sigh of relief. The driver helped me to get my car started again, and I quickly got back on the road. The driver offered to follow me to the nearest town to ensure that I reached safely, and I gratefully accepted his offer. As we drove, he confided to me that the area was notorious for robberies and carjackings, especially at night. The men that had surrounded me were likely part of a gang that preyed on unsuspecting travelers. Once we arrived at the town, I thanked the driver for his help acknowledging that I had narrowly escaped a dangerous situation. At the very moment, I couldn't shake off the fear that had settled in me and was grateful for the stranger's help. The experience of being surrounded by the group of men on the dark stretch of the highway, and later being helped by a stranger, left a profound impact on me. It made me realize the importance of being more alert and conscious of my surroundings, especially when traveling alone, and also how the kindness of strangers can make a significant difference in someone's life. Before this experience, I had never really given much thought to the dangers of traveling alone, especially at night. However, the incident made me realize that it is important to be more cautious, to be aware of my surroundings, and to trust my instincts. I understood that I needed to be more mindful of the places I visited and the routes I took, and to avoid traveling alone in unfamiliar and potentially dangerous areas. Moreover, the experience also taught me about the kindness of strangers. The driver who helped me that night didn't know me, yet he went out of his way to ensure that I was safe and helped me to get my car started again. It was a reminder that there are still good people in the world, willing to help others in need, and that we should be open to receiving help when it is offered.
