Motivation/Review
Good morning class!
Students’ Activity
Good morning too Ma’am!
Who among of you loves to watch the sky
during the night?
(raising hands)
Who among of you loves stargazing?
Ma’am!
Do you know that stars are also arranged in
groups?
Yes Ma’am!
Now I want you to pay attention on this
video and take down notes. I want you to
observe carefully because I will ask several
questions afterwards.
Yes Ma’am!
(showing video)

B. Exploration
***Advance Preparation (to be done a day
before the science class)
Now let’s have 12 groups for this exciting
activity class. Remember the card I gave
you a while back?
Yes Ma’am!
I want you to group yourselves according to
the Zodiac signs you are holding.
(moving to their respective groups)
I have here a Planisphere. It is a very useful
device. A polar projection of the celestial
sphere and the stars on a plane with
adjustable circles showing celestial
phenomena for any given time.
So on this activity, you will use a
planisphere, and I’ll be giving planispheres
to each group.
Activity # 1
Constellations

A. How to use the Planisphere
1. Swivel the star map around to line up the date and the time to the day you are
outside.
2. Identify where North and South are on the planisphere. Then you need a
compass to identify where North /South is outside.
3. Stand facing South, looking down at the planisphere so that North is at the top
facing away from you.
4. Lift the Planisphere above your head and the white disk area will show you
the stars in the night sky.
5. Use your planisphere as a guide to find the brightest stars.
B. Use the Table to list down the most observed constellations during your
observation.

Time Observed
C. Analysis
1. Enumerate your observations on the positions of the constellations as it
changes in the course of night.
C. Explanation
How far have you gone with your activity?
I will give you 5 minutes to brainstorm and
finalize your presentation before I’ll ask the
representatives to talk in front. Understood?
Yes ma’am
Let’s have your presentation of data and
observations from your activity.
(after presentation)
Did you enjoy the activity?
Very exciting Ma’am!
What are the most observed constellations in Ma’am!
your place?
Yes Ms. Mallabo?
The Cygnus Ma’am.
Very Good! 
D. Elaboration/Extension/BIT
Did you observe that the position of a
constellation changes in the course of a
night?
Yes Ma’am
True or False:
The arrangement of the stars/ constellations
does not change
Ma’am! (raising hands)
Yes Ms. Callo?
True Ma’am.
Then why does it looks like changing in
position every now and then?
Ma’am?
Yes Ms. Abella?
This is because of the earth’s rotation as it
revolves around the sun ma’am.
Precisely!
