PROBLEMS AND CONSTRAINTS
Campus Key has asked us to create a Database Management System in order to solve the
following problems:
Limited availability of affordable housing: Many students struggle to find affordable housing,
especially in Potchefstroom. This leads to overcrowding, and substandard living conditions, and
some students end up sleeping in unsafe places like filling stations.
Safety and security concerns: Students living in off-campus housing may be at risk for theft,
assault, or other safety-related issues. Campus Key wants to provide a safe and secure place
for students.
Maintenance and repair issues: Older or poorly maintained buildings may have frequent
maintenance issues, such as plumbing problems, heating or cooling issues, or other
maintenance-related concerns. These issues negatively impact the living experience of
students.
Distance from campus: Students who live far from campus may face challenges related to
transportation, such as long commute times, limited public transit options, or increased
transportation costs.
Limited space or amenities: Housing units with limited space or amenities may make it difficult
for students to live comfortably or access necessary resources for academic success.
Regulatory compliance: Campus Key must comply with a range of regulations, including
zoning laws, building codes, and safety regulations. Failure to comply with these regulations can
result in fines, legal action, or other consequences.
Financial constraints: Providing affordable housing options while maintaining necessary
amenities and safety measures has been a financial challenge for Campus Key. Balancing
these priorities effectively is essential for long-term success.
Overall, Campus Key student accommodation wants to provide a quality living experience for
students.
