Assembly instruction Overhead panel Boeing B737 NG Congratulations on your choice of the 737cockpit/Engravity Overhead panel for the Boeing 737 Next Generation. This kit contains the back- and front panels for the Overhead panel. Not included are the necessary control knobs and the electronic components. These can be obtained separately. With these instructions we guide you step by step trough the building process of your panel. Important; First check if all components are present and not damaged. Be very carefull with the synthetic panels and leave the protecting mask in place as long as possible. Panel assembly On the synthetic panel you need to glue several smaller panels. The best to do this is with a super glue and where applicable with the provided screws. On the panel there are specific holes of a diameter of 4 and 5mm. Place the decals(see drawing 4) first before you apply the panels according drawing 3 At certain places the screws will not grip into the wood but stay loose. These screws are only there for realism because they are there in the real cockpit as well. Therefore we advise you strongly to file off the pointed ends of these "loose screws" so that they cannot damage any other parts like electronic components. Attention!! Be very carefull when putting in the screws! Over-tightening may result in cracking the panels. Attention!! Before you apply the smaller panels we advise you to paint the edges grey first! (Colour matches RAL 7011) Do this with the screw heads as well. When all the panels are glued together finally the annunciator and other black buttons may be placed according the positions shown on drawing 4. Your panel is now ready for use. You can also extend it with additional knobs and electronic components if you like. You contact us for these items at the 737cockpit website In this manual you find a drawing for making your own back frame to mount the back and front overhead panels on. The mounting frame can easily be made of MDF or other materials if you like. 737cockpit wishes you many enjoyable flying hours TIPS; When you need to drill into the acrylic panel, place your drill in reverse when you start drilling. In this case you minimise the risk of cracking the material. Use special synthetic glue when glueing parts together. (Super glue works fine) Use M4 size bolts to mount the acrylic backpanels onto you own frame.
