Description:
This module is an introduction to the primary concepts of Grassland Production. It will
give a grounding to students wishing to pursue a career in agri-business and farm
management.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1
Explain the principles of grass production and conservation.
LO2
Identify and compare conserved forages.
LO3
Prepare a management profile for utilisation of grassland.
LO4
Prepare a management profile for production of forage crops.
LO5
Formulate a nutrient management plan for grassland production.

Forage types, principles of conservation, forage comparisons, feed quality assessment.

Fertilizer programmes, EU regulations, Environmental concerns, Animal manure management.
