Tempera paint, paintbrushes, jar of water, blank A4 paper, newspaper, 2 containers for mixing colours 1. Cover the table with a newspaper 2. In the middle, where you can reach, arrange your paints (red,blue , yellow and white) in small containers. Each colour should be mixed so that it is quite thick (like yoghurt). If the colour is too watery it will not be bright enough. There should be a paintbrush for each colour, or a teaspoon, or an ice-cream stick, for scooping paint into your mixing container. 3. Mixing two primary colours to get a secondary colour. 4. Paint this on your A4 paper, in any shape you want. Add some white to make a tint and paint that onto your paper. 5. Continue exploring how to make different colours. See how many you can mix! When you have covered your papers with colours, put them somewhere safe to dry. Write your name on the back. Your artmaking will be assessed by a number of factors including effort you made. You will also be assessed on whether you have understood and used techniques to express yourself and share an idea or feeling with the viewer. You will need: thin wire and thicker wire, pliers, thin sheets of paper, coloured paper, cardboard, beads, buttons, ribbon, string, fabric,foam ,natural objects such as reeds, flexible twigs, interestingly shaped leaves,feathers,scissors,2B/3B pencils, wood glue, blank A4/A3 paper, newspaper. 1 Think about the building and its sorroundings that you want to make in 3D using recyclable materials. Picture what it will look like. Sketch your ideas. 2 Twist thin wire to make a framework of your building. Make sure that the frame gives building both contrast and balance. For example, make some parts taller than others to create contrast, and balance this by making other parts appear equal in weight or volume so that the building does not look lopsided. 3 Take sheets of paper cellophane or foil and layer them over your framework. Overlap the ends and glue them down so that they lie flat. Smooth out any wrinkles in the joins. 5 Leave your artwork to dry while you collect and prepare materials to decorate the exterior of your building. Decide whether you want the exterior to patterns or letters. 6 Use collected materials, such as feathers, bright beads, buttons, and strings. You can also use paints and inks, pieces of photographs and pictures from magazines. 7 Glue the materials onto the exterior, but remember to press lightly so that you don’t make holes in the paper surface.
