1) Compute B at t = 5 sec. considering that gear
A Starts form rest and that A= (3t + 2) rad/s2.
(Ans: B= 2566.667 rad/sec clockwise)
2) Compute the speed of C and the distance it
travels at time t=3 secs if disk A starts from
rest with A= (0.4 t) rad/s2
(Ans: vC=1.08 m/sec, Distance= 1.08 m)
3) Determine the magnitudes of the velocity and acceleration
of point P on the wheel, after the pulley B has turned ten
revolutions. Assume the transmission belt does not slip on
the pulley and wheel.
(Ans: vP= 3.883 m/sec, aP= 37.7 m/sec2)

4) Cable C has a constant acceleration of 9 in/s2 and
an initial velocity of 12 in/s, both directed to the
right. Determine (a) the number of revolutions of
the pulley in 2 s, (b) the velocity and change in
position of the load B after 2 s, and (c) the
acceleration of the point D on the rim of the inner
pulley at t= 0.
(Ans: No. of rev.=2.228, vB=50 in/sec, change in
position= 70 in, aD= 48.836 in/sec2)
5) In the position shown, crank AB has a
constant angular velocity w1 = 20 rad/s
counterclockwise. Determine the angular
velocities of the connecting rod BD and
crank DE.
(Ans: BD= 29.333 rad/sec clockwise,
DE= 11.294 rad/sec anticlockwise)
6) The crank AB has a constant clockwise
angular velocity of 2000 rpm. For the
crank position indicated, determine (a) the
angular velocity of the connecting rod BD,
and (b) the velocity of the piston P.
(Ans: BD= 87.1066 rad/sec anticlockwise,
vD= 571.848 cm/sec)
