“The Happiness Effect”
With Having observed the content, terminology used in each chapter, and of course Donna
Freitas tone, it is suitable to the lay public rather than necessarily-university graduates. The
subject might be one of the most relatable topics of the modern world which youngsters tend
to interact with, most probably more than the others. The author’s intention was not only to
warn the people using social media, but to inform them some of these issues can be prevented;
hence, communicative translation is the best match to serve the original purpose of the author,
considering the readership as well. Although the included researches in the book were
conducted all across the US, but everyone having access the internet might be facing the same
if not exact issues; therefore, domestication seemed fair to be applied rather than foreignization
which is more suitable for academic and legal documents. According to Nida, Since the ST
was not neither of the 2 types mentioned, based on “the principal effect”, the message must be
as thoroughly received in the TL, as was in the SL; hence, dynamic equivalent seemed like a
far better option. (Munday, 2016)
