My parents have never forced me to choose a subject or field. All the subjects I chose, in O’levels or
A’ levels, were of my choice and my interest. Computers fascinated me back when I was 10. I have
always anticipated learning more and more about computers, new skills and ways to edit images or
videos. I always put in extra effort while doing computer projects and excelled. In my opinion, this
happens because of interest in a particular field. There is a vast world inside a computer, opportunities
beyond our knowledge, yet many people are unaware of them. NFTs, Metaverse, Digital Art,
Graphics, Web Designing, filmmaking and even accounts are handled on computers.
Information systems in my undergraduate will not only help me to enhance by skills but also increase
my knowledge which would furthermore help me in my practical life. We all should know that the
future is AI, IT, and Data Science. Future relates to computers. We may not need a clerk for
registrations or a receptionist, but yes a skilled person from the databases field or a robot may come in
handy.
This opportunity would allow me to explore other unique ways to handle a computer system, whether
to secure it, use it for marketing purposes, or help others through it. Those tiny yet clever tricks where
one needs to be alert while using a key that otherwise may affect the whole work are the most
challenging yet thrilling part of using a computer. Studying Information Systems would allow me to
use computers for the betterment of everyone and to make the world a better place. Most of all, using
different software and programs and changing or enhancing something for a better purpose always
amazes me, and I want to do more about it. I want to help those who are currently unaware of this
technology and cannot access it. Through my education and skill, I want to reduce the digital divide
among different groups in our society.
Moreover, it is beneficial professionally too. Once we have studied information systems,
opportunities knock on our door, whether its website creation, cybersecurity, smart homes,
infrastructure etc. and it all comes from AI. AI focus on understanding and design context and
creating solutions based on data provided. We may not realise it, but we use it in our everyday lives.
AI has improved architectural designs, health tech advancements and these foundations have shaped
better opportunities for overall quality of life. People with the knowledge and skill in this particular
field are highly demanded and I sincerely want to become one of those people.
Information Systems provide a wide variety of studies that lead us to choose different occupations
depending on our interests. It makes us occupationally and geographically mobile. It gives us a chance
to earn from anywhere around the world. However, the main thing is not about money; it never should
be about that either. We do not know what our future will be like, but I look forward to starting a new
journey with a big smile, knowing it will lead me somewhere best. It’s not about the outcome or
reaching our goal; it is about the journey, and it is about the ups and downs. We will make another
goal when we reach our goal, but we will always remember the beautiful journey we had while
aiming for those goals.
