Have you ever fallen off a cliff? I have, not the one where you plunge into the ocean but fall into troubles and difficulties. I do not come from a wealthy family, a family with all the luxuries, but yes, I do have a treasure, my parents who have done all they could for my education because they were deprived of this basic necessity or, moreover, every person’s fundamental right. Just as small yet unforgettable moments bring smiles to our faces, some moments also shatter our hearts into tiny pieces. Well, that is life. Life is always teaching us something, whether through a happy or unfortunate event. But, it depends on us what and when we learn. I have always learnt since childhood that love and family are the most important things, and I always prioritize them. Money, status, and all those worldly things are a part of life, and would come and go. I have lived in a joint family; therefore, I have faced setbacks at some point in life, but none of them stood like in June 2021. I lost my sister in 2015, but it did not affect me the way the incident in 2021 did. Imagine the people with whom you have lived all your life, who taught the importance of family and love, abandon you in one minute and that too when difficulties just heaped upon you. Imagine being thrown out of the house you were born in, where you were raised. Imagine that your O’ levels examinations are right ahead, and you have no place to study. Imagine you have to stay at the mall the whole day till it closes because you have no roof. Imagine you have to suppress your appetite so your younger siblings can eat. Imagine your father is unemployed, and the person you depended upon pretended to adore you all your life and suddenly left you with no call. A stranger who walks into your house pretending to be one of your own manipulates your people and makes them abandon you. Can you imagine? Because I have encountered this. I have seen tears in my mother’s eyes; the house she served with all her heart abandoned her as if she was never there. At the same time, another mother chose a stranger over her son. The son was always there by her side and cared for her much. Well, that was my father. June is a month with scorching heat in Pakistan. The only money saved up in the bank was for my education by my parents. They reassured me that we are here for you no matter what, and none of this will ever affect your education. What do you think? Don’t I deserve an opportunity to study at your college so that I could make my parents smile and help in burdening off their shoulders? I sincerely want to have that chance to prove myself and work day and night to please my parents. 2021 has been one of the most challenging years of my life. I learned about how people can desert you for their benefit or money. My heart broke after seeing the real faces of the individuals I thought loved me wholeheartedly. In reality, they just pretended in front of society to show how much wealth they spent on us because my father could not afford our expenditures. I believe that money is not essential to growing more potent. Money cannot buy amazing parents or loyal love. A house, small or big, does not matter; what matters is the people in the place with you. I enjoy every bit of life with my parents and those faithful friends who are always there for me.So thank you, life, for making me strong to never give up because, for sure, “After every hardship there is ease.”
