CLASS PROPHECY Have you ever wondered what you would be 15 years from now? I bet you have. You have imagined yourselves as someone who is successful, fulfilled and happy. There’s nothing wrong about foreseeing ourselves beautifully and splendidly. As a matter of fact Eleanor Roosevelt once said that " The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." If we continue to be positive, we will eventually become who we like to be. However, what we envision in the future determines how we work today. Our past molds our present and our present shapes our future. Ladies and gentlemen, let me take you to the future. Lend me your ears. In just a minute, we'll take a journey to the future. Sit back, relax, and widen your imagination. Let's enjoy this journey. One bright morning, I woke up because of the loud sound of my alarm clock. Someone was calling me downstairs. Oh! right, it’s my mom she had been calling me several times, saying I needed to wake up and get ready for the new day. I was still so sleepy; I slept at 3 am because I finished watching the last three episodes of one of my favorite Korean dramas “Twenty-five Twenty-one. Oh! I can still imagine the attractive face of my idol “Nam Joo-hyuk”. Since it's already bright outside, I hurriedly went downstairs, and I saw my mom cleaning the house. I went to the kitchen and made myself a cup of coffee and then I sat down at the table. Minutes later, my brother came downstairs wearing his jersey. They will have a practice today with his teammates in basketball because they will have a game this Saturday. Few minutes after, someone who knocked our gate. My brother went to the gate to see who was knocking. I was shocked when he came back holding a piece of white envelope and gave it to me and then he left. "What is this?" I asked myself. Huh? A letter? For me? I got confused so I quickly opened it. My eyes widened when I saw the content of the letter. It’s written that my application form was accepted, and I was chosen among many to go abroad. It was stated there that I need to go to Manila to take the oral and written assessment. I applied as a Nurse in Saudi Arabia. I was jumping and screaming out of joy. My mother was also surprised, and she quickly entered the living room and then I told her about the letter. I was so happy because it is my biggest dream in my life. I want to make some money, build my dream house and help my parents. Since, I only have one week to prepare before my flight to Manila, I decided to enjoy that "one week" before I'll enter a new chapter in my life. It's already 11:00 AM, I decided to bring lunch to my sister in her workplace. She’s a doctor in one of the famous hospitals here in Zamboanga City. As I walked down the hallway, I heard someone crying. I stopped walking and I saw a mother asking the doctor to save her child. And when I looked at the doctor from a distance who was trying to calm her down, I saw a familiar face . But I just ignored her and continued walking. "Ate Fat!" someone shouted. I remember the only person calling me that way. There’s one person in my mind. When I turned around, I saw the doctor earlier and there I realized that the doctor was none other than Luraine A. Guitang, my classmate in high school. I ran to her and gave her a big hug. We greeted each other and there I found out that my other friends were also working there like Jezreal Hannah Osabel, surgeon, Ananya Fay Ticao, a MedTech, and Joana Mae Miguel who is now a chemist. She said goodbye because she was still making her rounds in the hospital. I continued my steps toward my sister's office. While I was heading there, I passed by the cafeteria, and I saw familiar faces there. I saw doctor Lady Sharmane Macero together with Engineer Jasmin Alfaro, Nurse Jasmine Cortez, Nurse Iriz Casimiro and Teacher Sitti Arfha Abdurahim. Wow! They are all successful. They are Sharmane's close friends since high school. They were having a conversation over a cup of coffee and I was able to overheard them taking about the upcoming concert of Rich Casipe, Jennevy Luis and Paul Cabasag featuring the Cris Brown of the Philippines Rey John Sonet. I was about to leave when I met a man holding a bouquet of flowers. He was running fast and I could see that he was really panting and he quickly entered the cafeteria. I was surprised to see that the man was Police Major Kristian Benedict Remuth, the commander of PS 11. He was heading to Sharmane's direction and I heard him saying "Happy Anniversary, Hon!" while handling over the bouquet. OMG! I can't handle their cuteness. I just remembered how he gave chocolate to Sharmane on a Valentine's Day when we were still in high school. He still hasn't changed; he is still that shy but loving guy. All the people there cheered for them. I turned my gaze to the nurses who were also cheering for them. I saw Rheanor Gaas, Jasmine Falcasantos, Undrezza Zorilla and they look so young. I didn't know that they become nurses. I left there with a smile on my face. After I bringing my sister's lunch, I left the hospital immediately. As I was walking, I met a couple holding their hands while walking. Wait, is that Gibbs Araneta? One of the topnotchers in board exam? He is with Raiza Ramos? OMG! I can't believe it. They really ended up together. I immediately greeted them first and they greeted me back. They are both nurse in the same hospital. They looked so cute together. We talked for a while and Raiza mentioned to me that Rhenztel Inah Pefanco and Rhenztel Wina Pefanco are also successful. They are now managing a big company in Manila. After that, we said goodbye to each other. It's already 1:30 in the afternoon, so I decided to go to our bake shop. Yes. I have already my own bake shop. We already have 6 branches here in Zamboanga City. By 2:00 PM, I arrived at our bakeshop. I went straight to the counter where I checked our income for that day. While I was talking to our staff, a customer came in. "Good afternoon ma'am, what can I do-" I was not able to finish my lines because I was very surprised when I saw the customer coming in, she was none other than Doctor Angel Alexa Angeles. And she was not alone, she was with her daughter and her husband who is also a doctor, Earl Lagasca. They really proved that "age doesn't matter". Angel literally ate everything she said when we were still in high school, that she would never get married. But here she is now with a happy family. They went there to order a cake for their daughter's upcoming birthday. After I got all the details about their order, they immediately left. By 6:00 PM, I was on my way home when I heard someone shouting on the other side of the road. An old woman was holdapped. Luckily, there were police officers around and the holdapper was caught immediately. I looked at the police officers who fearlessly arrested the holdapper, and I saw Police Lieutenant Girly An Eugenio and Police Captain Nica Atilano. WOW! They are so cool. An hour later, I was back home. I was scrolling through the Facebook when Ira Khrysyll Pilien's post came across my timeline, with a caption of "Congratulations, Self!" Wow! She passed the board exam. She is now a licensed teacher just like her mother. After that, I received a notification from the famous vlogger, Veny Lamoste. Now, she has a total of 50,000 followers. She has just uploaded a new video where she traveled to Seoul, South Korea. I watched her vlog for a while but after a few minutes, I felt sleepy. So I decided to sleep. It’s Saturday, I promised my brother that I will watch their game today. I sat in the front right with my family next to me. The game started. The fans screamed loudly when both teams shoot the ball. After a few hours of passing the ball, the game ended and my brother's team won. Everyone cheered when I heard a familiar voice. "Good Game!” he said. I turned to see who it was. And I saw Basketball Legends and famous PBA Basketball players Kian Cimafranca and Kyle Tan. I looked at my cellphone when it suddenly rang. I received a message from my friend Keith Denise Tan a Professional Photographer. She invited me to have dinner with our other friends. I arrived at the restaurant that Keith said and it was owned by Jennelle Bandoquillo. It’s one of the famous restaurants here in the Philippines. I looked for the table where my friends were and I saw Keith waving at me. There I saw the beautiful and successful CEO Jullien Gonzales, Trish Superales a five-star General in USA and Irich Varquez a soldier. We talked about our lives. I found out that Jullien is married to a rich businessman whom she met in Paris. Speaking of wedding, Keith gave me an envelope. It’s an invitation where I was invited to the grand wedding of Conie Rojo who is now a Flight Attendant. While we were talking about it, the food we ordered arrived. We started eating and we were all speechless because the food was so delicious. So I thought of asking the waiter who was the chef who cooked the food. He said that they are the famous chefs in the Philippines, Bryan Lisondra and Franz Atat. Maybe they really enjoyed our cookery class when we were still in high school and they pursued becoming chefs. Sunday, 9:00 AM, I arrived at Conie's wedding venue. There were lots of flowers and beautiful designs were spread in every corner of the venue. A few moments later, the beautiful bride, Conie entered. Wearing a beautiful white dress and started walking to the altar. While walking, the song "Pasilyo" by Sunkissed Lola was playing. Although this song is old, I still felt its romantic nature. Conie married a pilot. Tall and handsome Pilot to be exact. After the wedding, all the guests went straight to the reception. There I saw the Masters of Ceremonies/Flight Attendant Rachel Shane Enriquez and Broadcaster Tobits Abuas. I saw Attorney Gracel Lariosa and her sister Gren Rose Lariosa, a nurse. At the other table, Attorney Yousef Corrales together with her wife Prosecutor Kriz De Loyola were sitting. I also saw there the famous Engineers of the Philippines, Edsel John Bucoy and Bonavie Perez. Famous painters throughout Asia, Rheana Mae Fuentevilla and Rovelyn Makinta, were also there. There was also a special performance by Abigail Besa, a famous singer. Who would have thought that someone who only sang in a videoke before is now a famous singer in the Philippines. A day after Conie’s wedding was my flight to Saudi Arabia. I went to the airport and I saw President Ferdinand Apostol together with his first lady and the Vice President Angela Go heading heading to a private plane. I was so surprised to see them. Flight attendants Hannah Faye Villanueva and Klarens Cielo Kue helped me with my things. "Welcome to Zamboanga Airways. Please fasten your safety belts and prepare for take-off. We’ll be taking off two minutes from now. This is Captain Bryce Gomez speaking.” I just realized that they were my schoolmates way back in high school. OMG! They are all successful now. It's so wonderful to see all those friends successful. After 3 years of working abroad, I decided to meet my knight in shinning armor in the aisle. Yes this is it! No more "SANA ALL". I'm really getting married. I met him in Saudi Arabia. And now I'm here in the Philippines. I'm wearing a beautiful white dress. I went out of the room and greeted each guest. I was so tired of going around and greeting the guests, to the point that I just threw myself on my bed without taking off the wedding gown I was wearing. I didn't realize that I fell asleep. Suddenly, I woke up because of a loud voice coming from outside my room. I had no choice but to stand and see who it was. My mother appeared to me and she was already annoyed. She said, I have to get ready or else I might be late. I closed the door and my mind was still full of questions. I knew that I was really in my deep slumber but I can’t understand the feeling. My eyes flew to the calendar hanging on my wall and I was so surprised when I saw the circled date "March 4, 2023" My Prom in my high school life. Wait? I just got married yesterday. So it was all just a dream? It means it’s all just a sneak peek into the future? But it seemed that it all happened yesterday. But even so, I managed to smile knowing that my friends and I will be successful in the future. Will we be successful in the future just like in my dream? Definitely, we will! Nothing is impossible to a person who dreams. To everyone, thank you so much for listening and for riding with me in this journey. Once again, good afternoon and May God bless us all.
