Presentation Speech- ENG 307 Hi, this Md. Ajijul Islam. I would like to talk about nature as a teacher based on Wordsworth’s poems “Tintern Abbey” and “Intimations of Immortality”. He talks about nature and its influence on human life. In his two famous poems, “Tintern Abbey” and “Intimations of Immortality,” he explores the idea of nature as a teacher that guides humanity to spiritual understanding and emotional healing. In “Tintern Abbey,” Wordsworth reflects on his return to a place in the Wye Valley after a fiveyear absence. He describes the natural surroundings in detail. He sees the beauty of nature as a source of inspiration, and through this beauty, he learns important lessons about life. He believes that nature is a teacher because it has the power to inspire us and connect us to something greater than ourselves. Wordsworth believes that nature teaches us to appreciate the present moment and to find joy in the simple things in life. He doubts that if nature did not teach him, how to think about thing, his “genial spirit probably decay”. Nature prevents us from evil judgement and shows the correct way to lead life. As mentioned before, Wordsworth says that “Nature never did betray the heart that loved her” and suggests that if we connect with nature, it can provide us with a sense of peace and contentment. In “Intimations of Immortality,” Wordsworth continues to explore the idea of nature as a teacher, but in a more philosophical way. He reflects on the loss of childhood innocence and the idea that we are born with a sense of wonder and awe, but as we grow up, we lose this sense of wonder. Wordsworth suggests that by connecting with nature, we can regain this sense of wonder and remember the beauty and magic of the world. Wordsworth also believes that nature can provide us with a sense of immortality. He says that “Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting” and suggests that our true home is in nature. By connecting with nature, we can feel a sense of belonging, which can provide us with a sense of immortality. Conclusion: In conclusion, we can say that through “Tintern Abbey” and “Intimations of Immortality” Wordsworth encourages us to connect with nature and to find inspiration and solace in its beauty. Nature is a way of finding the spirituality that links Nature, humanity, and the world. Despite the troubles of everyday life, nature allows us to keep the faith in God. Nature nurses us as her “FosterChild, her inmate man”. Nature is a powerful teacher, capable of providing us with important life lessons and a sense of wonder and immorality. Nature is the guide, the guardian of our heart and soul of all our moral beings.
