Diary entries
After having read Paul Jenning’s ‘Spaghetti Pig Out’ and then watched this as a tv episode in ‘Around
the Twist’, you will be imagining that you are one of the contestants in the spaghetti eating
competition. You are to show through your entry what it was like to be there on the day.
Remember to use the following:
Tense: Past tense – Today at the Spaghetti Pig Out competition Rabbit spewed 40 bowls of spaghetti
all over the crowd.
First person – It was the grossest thing that I have ever seen. I felt like I was going to vomit myself.
Words that show order – Then, Firstly, After that, Before etc
Words and sentences that use each of the senses.
Recount of what happened: The competition began, Tina and Fish went out early and Pete and
Rabbit were left. Halfway through Rabbit started eating really quickly. He ate 40 bowls in total.
When the time was up, he started to swell and his friend tried to hold his lips together. His parents
cheered him on. He then vomited all over everyone. After that he started to eat all of the pasta
around him.
