SCHOLARLY NARRATIVE ON SUGGESTED READINGS DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF LEARNING MODULES IN ALGEBRA Algebra is mainly thinking about numbers rather than calculating with numbers. This is why many students are having difficulties in learning algebraic expressions. Thus, developing learning materials that will encourage and help students to learn the topic would be transformational. Teachers are responsible for making learning materials. A learning material, such as modules, should be well-planned, organized, and tailored fit to students' learning ability. Teachers should provide students varied exercises and activities in order for the students to fully realize the lesson. Developing learning modules in Mathematics, especially in Algebra will be very helpful in the teaching learning process. Modules are the most widely accepted learning materials as they provide students with a complete learning experience. Studies have proved the effectiveness of modular approach in the students' learning process over the world, particularly, in the subject of Mathematics. Additionally, modules provide students the opportunity to learn independently. Teaching Algebra can be challenging to students. This is why the content of the module has to be well thought of and written with the students in mind. Modules have to be focused, its objectives must be SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Result-oriented or relevant, and Time-bound), its content must be clear, should contain easy to follow instruction and promote varied activities, and assessment. Furthermore, modules have to be evaluated before distribution. It has to be error-free to avoid confusion to learners. To summarize, the development and evaluation of modules are integral parts of utilizing modules in Algebra. Like other learning materials, modules must undergo evaluation before it is distributed to students. This time of pandemic, many public schools will implement a modular approach. The process of writing and evaluating the learning module takes time. Because of these, teachers craft their own learning materials/ activities to prepare and to help students adapt in the new normal. Submitted by: JENNY GRACE C CAPUNO EDUC 403 EDUC - 403 SUMMER CLASS
