The Power of
Communication by
Nina Legath
1.What was the advice of the speaker? Would you
follow her advice?
The advice of the speaker is to communicate not because of how you
feel or not centered on YOU. She wants to emphasize that there
should be meaning and connection to have good communication. You
should understand what the other person needs to know, how will they
react and how will they understand. We agree with her and will follow
her advice because communication is one of the things in life that will
not change. Through the years, many are now being handled by
electronics and robotics. But there will always be human intervention.
And COMMUNICATION is one big part that only people can do
2.According to the speaker, “It was becoming more
important to convey information than to know
information.
a.Give examples that would support this claim.
In many ways, it seems to be true. In our increasingly connected world, it is
often more important to be able to share information and understand than to
simply know it.
Conveying the information is a path to attaining powerful communication. The
given example is how the human doctor communicates with the patient to
make decisions. It was the same with dentists because for them to start the
procedure surgery, they ask how effective the anesthesia is, and if it is then
they will proceed to the surgery, otherwise, they will insert more of it. A wise
passage of message from the dentist and patient can lead to a successful
connection. It shows the importance of conveying the information on how it
helps them to make decisions.
b.Give examples that would not support this claim.
As the reader said, what humans need that will persist whatever the technology
changes are both meaning and connection to communication. For example, the
patient will not always understand what the dentist is saying because they have
different points of view. They need to have meaningful communication with the
dentist to distinguish what is the exact problem and procedure.
3. According to the speaker, “It was becoming more
important to convey information than to know
information.
a. Assuming this was true, from the point of view of
the listener (or the receiver of the information), is
this a positive development?
In this quotation, this creates a positive development in
the perspective of the audience or the receiver in the
means of making the information meaningful. They
interpret what is being said and translate the message
to their own set of experiences and in that way it makes
it meaningful. The fact that someone conveys
information to them is already a positive development,
in such a way creating it to be meaningful and
understandable message.
a. From the point of view of the speaker (or the
source of the information), is this a positive
development?
In a communication, it is not just the audience or the
receiver takes the learnings. It is a two way learning in
which the speaker adopt the position and belief of the
receiver, vice versa. In that way, it is seen there the
positive developments especially in the perspective of
the speaker. Delivering information is much more
important in simply knowing it. Because in delivering we
can get the opinions of others. That is why, a strong
communication leads development.
