RESPONSE: To persuade and convince the readers, the writer used a type of writing structure which is the question and answer structure. Using a question and answer structure the readers can easily get involved with text and it also stimulates a form of discussion. This helps the readers to easily be convinced. The writer uses structural features to persuade the readers. The writer used rhetorical questions. An example is “Bored? Looking for a new challenge?” This is a rhetorical question because it does not require a question and it speaks directly to the reader. This is persuasive because it allow the reader a moment to pause and think about the question. The use inclusive language. Throughout the text, the writer uses inclusive language and the pronoun “you” and “your” in order to get the reader involved. A reference from the text is from line 16: “Participating in after-study activities helps you in other ways too. It looks good on college jobs and applications”. Since the writer uses inclusive language, it pulls the writer into the information and makes it relevant to them. The writer uses compelling speech to gain the readers’ attention in order to persuade them. The writer repeated key words and points such as: After-study activities. Repeating this often, pulls the readers attention to the purpose of the text. The writer asks rhetorical questions in a way that attracts the readers’ attention and also persuades them.
