Q1
Current condition
Table 1 shows that the two PBMCI national officers, three campus workers, three pastors, a church
member, and a student all said that the current condition of the campus is not good that is why it
needs redevelopment as findings shows that the respondents have 100% preference on the need
for redevelopment.
The data implies that the current condition of the campus needs redevelopment. A redevelopment
includes demolitions, renovations, and construction of new buildings. Since the data shows 100%
preference, this means that the inclusions of a redevelopment will be considered in the design of
the redevelopment of the PBMCI campus in Caramutan, Villasis.
Demolition
Table 2 shows that the respondents identified 7 facilities subjected to demolition. The facilities
with the highest response are the old dormitories with 6 out of 10 responses, this means it is the
facility that is most crucial for demolition. Next to it is the academy building with 5 out 0f 10
responses, tabernacle with 4 out of 10 responses, old faculty house with 3 out of 10 responses, and
the public restroom with 2 out of 10 responses. The administration building and the kitchen have
both 1 response out of 10. The number of responses will be the basis of the consideration, if the
response is higher, the more it needs demolition.
The data implies that the identified facilities are essential to be considered in the design of the
redevelopment of PBMCI campus to eliminate old and deteriorating buildings and to create a safe,
beautiful, and more functional spiritual place. The facilities subjected to demolition are the
buildings that are very worn out to the extent of being unrepairable. the condition of these facilities
is pretty bad because it has damages from its flooring, walls, ceiling, and roofing. Also, these
facilities suffer from termites that is why some respondents said that these facilities might collapse
anytime. The identified facilities are built for at least 20 years ago and the oldest facility are
approximately built 50 years ago.
Renovation
Table 3 shows that the respondents identified six facilities subjected to renovation. The facility
with the highest response is the administration building with 5 out of 10 responses, this means that
it is the facility most crucial for demolition. Next to it is the parsonage with 4 out of 10 responses,
dining & library building with 3 out of 10 responses, and the church building also with 3 out of 10
responses. The tabernacle has only 1 response out of 10. The number of responses will be the basis
of the consideration, if the response is higher, the more it needs renovation.
The data implies that the identified facilities are essential to be considered in the design of the
redevelopment of PBMCI campus to transform the existing facilities into a more aesthetic and
functional ones. The facilities subjected to renovation does not have many damages and can still
be repaired or fixed. The oldest identified facility for renovation is the administration building
which is 20 years old approximately.
Q2
Activities
Table 4 shows the main activities and events identified by the respondents. The church
services have the highest response with 108 out of 148 responses. Next is the camp meetings with
96 out of 148 responses, youth conventions with 95 out of 148 responses, weddings with 69 out of
148 responses, sportsfests with 66 out of 148 responses, birthday celebrations with 58 out of 148
responses, shepherd’s seminars with 58 out of 148 responses, dedications with 49 out of 148
responses, college activities with 40 out of 148 responses, and lastly is the retreats with 38 out of
148 responses. All these activities and events will be considered in the design of the redevelopment
of the PBMCI campus regardless of the number of responses.
The data implies that the said activities and events are essential to be considered in the design of
the redevelopment of PBMCI campus in order to create a connection between the design of the
spiritual place and the identity of the place. Based on the data, the identified activities can be
classified in three categories which are the church related activities, school activities, and the
income generating activities wherein most of the activities with high response are the church
related activities. These identified activities and events will be the basis for the needed facilities
and spaces.
Problems/Constraints
Table 5 shows that the respondents identified eight (8) problems/constraints that they
have encountered. The problem/constraints with highest response are the lack of public restrooms
with 92 out of 148 responses. The next is the deteriorating, unsafe and easily flooded facilities and
surroundings with 77 out of 148 responses, exposed to sun and rainfall with 64 out of 148
responses, insufficient facilities/spaces with 59 out of 148 responses, nuisance and distractions
with 56 out of 148 responses, unmaintained landscapes with 55 out of 148 responses, unattractive
environment with 48 out of 148 responses, and lastly is the poor lighting and ventilation with 6
out of 148 responses. The problems identified by the respondents are problems regarding the
physical and built environment of the campus. The problems regarding the physical environment.
The problem regarding the lack of public restroom means the respondents find it hard to
look for restrooms during their stay in the campus. The deteriorating, unsafe, and easily flooded
facilities and surroundings, mean that the built environment of the campus is old. The problem
regarding the facilities being exposed to sun and rainfall means that some buildings does not have
a proper design and orientation. The facilities or spaces being insufficient means that the existing
facilities and other spaces cannot cater the number of users specially during large group gatherings.
The nuisance and distractions are problems experienced by the users when their activities are
ongoing because the facilities do not have barriers against the sources of distractions and noises,
this problem is most applicable in the design of the tabernacle where most events are being held
and adjacent to it is the playground where kids have fun. Both problems regarding the environment
being unattractive and the landscaping that is not managed well mean that the users does not like
the current condition of the physical environment of the campus. The last identified problem by
the respondents is the poor lighting and ventilation. This implies that the respondents have
experienced a hot and dark facilities which is uncomfortable to them.
This means that the data gathered suggests that the identified problems/constraints must
be considered or addressed in the design of the redevelopment of the PBMCI campus in order to
avoid and prevent it from happening again. This will create a design that is successful, effective,
and comfortable.
Needed or Suggested Facilities/Spaces
Table 6 shows that the respondents identified twelve (12) facilities/spaces they need or
suggest for their activities and events. The facility/space with the highest rating is the public
restrooms with 92 out of 148 responses. Next is the parking area with 83 out of 148 responses,
multi-purpose building with 61 out of 148 responses, larger tabernacle/gymnasium with 77 out of
148 responses, meditation gardens & landscapes with 74 out of 148 responses, campgrounds with
72 out of 148 responses, sports facilities with 67 out of 148 responses, kitchen with 64 out of 148
responses, more dormitories with 61 out of 148 responses, dining area with 50 out of 148
responses, faculty houses with 44 out of 148 responses, and lastly is the obstacle course with 34
out of 148 responses. The higher the number of responses, the more it is needed to be considered
in the design. The most needed facility based on Table 7 is the public restrooms because the
problems/constraints being experienced by the respondents with the highest response is the lack
of public restrooms. The second most needed is the parking space because there is no space in the
campus that is designated for parking. According to Miranda Curry (2021), it is important to have
an ample parking for establishments to increase accessibility and to attract more potential
customers. The parking space will be very important and useful in the income generating activities
of the campus because it provides convenience to the customers which can often lead to customer’s
satisfaction. The multi-purpose building was suggested because the activities needs conference
room, seminar room, music room, and a room for recording or filming audio-visual presentations.
Most of the events are held in the Tabernacle (the name of the building which is basically a
gymnasium) but the problem of it is that it cannot cater all the users that is why the respondents
suggested a larger tabernacle. The PBMCI campus is a spiritual or sacred place wherein people go
to meditate. This is the reason why a meditation garden and landscapes were suggested by the
respondents because having spaces connected with nature is essential for meditation. Events like
retreats, camp meetings and youth conventions are not a one-day event, and it needs
accommodation and food services. Because of this, respondents suggested to have more
dormitories and a campground where people can lay their tents to be used as sleeping areas and a
kitchen and dining area for food services. A sports facility was also suggested because aside for
being event place the tabernacle is also used for sports and it is not convenient to always move out
the chairs to clear the area to be used for recreational activities. Another space that is needed for
recreational activities is an obstacle course. And lastly is the faculty houses. The respondents
suggested to consider faculty houses in the design because the existing faculty houses where
campus workers live are the oldest facility in the campus meaning, it is now old, unsafe, and
deteriorating.
The data gathered suggests that these facilities/spaces must be considered in the design of the
proposed redevelopment of the PBMCI campus to create a space that serves its function. Having
a complete and useful facilities makes a place functional. A good design provides the need of its
users.
Q3
Design Elements/Features
Table 7 shows that the respondents identified nine (9) design elements/features that could
enhance their spiritual health. The element/feature with the highest percentage is having access to
nature with 97 out of 148 responses. Next is placing plants and trees with 95 out of 148 responses,
symbolic elements with 92 out of 148 responses, natural air & natural light with both with 89 out
of 148 responses, landscapes with 82 out of 148 responses, views of nature with 76 out of 148
responses, natural materials with 72 out of 148 responses, and lastly is water features. The
identified design elements that could enhance the spiritual health of the users are mostly
incorporating nature or embracing the natural environment.
This data implies that these architectural design elements is essential to be considered in
the design of the redevelopment of the PBMCI campus in Caramutan, Villasis to create
means that the data gathered suggests that these architectural design elements/features
must be considered in the design of the proposed redevelopment of the PBMCI campus to enhance
the spiritual health of the users.


There are seven facilities that needs to be demolished and these are the old dormitories, the
academy school building, tabernacle, old faculty houses, public restroom, and both the
administration building and the kitchen.

There are six facilities that needs to be renovated and these are the Administration building,
parsonage, church building, dining & library building, kitchen, and lastly is the tabernacle.
Since the tabernacle received more responses in the demolition it means that it needs to be
demolished rather than renovation. And since the administration building received more
responses from the renovation, this means that it needs to be renovated rather than
demolition.
