Dreams and aspirations The fantastic world of the internet shows wonders and luxuries with every mouse click. Far removed from the luxury seen on the web, I live in a small town in Pakistan where dreams are humble and straightforward. I am not talking about dreams of cars, iPhones, and designer clothes. I mean the vision of higher education and a purposeful future. My father is a true pioneer in his thinking, as he instilled a value and thirst for education in me. Ridiculed for spending the last of his retirement budget on my primary education, he was labeled a risk taker. In a society that places value elsewhere, these accusations might offend other individuals, not my Dad. He recognized my thirst for knowledge early, even before I understood it myself. The more I learned, the more I wanted to know, as if in a perpetual state of mental hunger. I discovered something else in the middle of my high school years. Dreams require great sacrifice. With no additional money to pay for my schooling, the depth of his sacrifice became apparent. I decided to engage my entrepreneurial mind to start focusing on my current educational crisis, which led me to become a freelancer offering virtual services. At this time, I learned another lesson about humility and shame. I could not know the pressure my father would suffer with me taking on the financial burden of my education. His dream was to help me reach my dream by financing my education. Through his quiet, selfless actions, my Dad has given me an understanding of how we, as people, share and participate in each other's dreams and aspirations. I'm proud to see my Dad is the wealthiest man I know — rich not in the capital but in character. Optimism is infectious; especially when applied to youth. I became a volunteer tutor at a youth group after passing my A-Levels. I discovered great personal satisfaction in sharing love through knowledge. Curious about how these life lessons transformed me. Naturally shy, I wondered how one could simultaneously be afraid and excited about the change. I want to be an ambassador for optimism and change. You have provided me with a window of opportunity through your foreign student study experience. I plan to study Business and turn this window into a doorway I can walk through with pride. I want to repay the community with my knowledge and love, shaping young minds like my own. I want to contribute back to the community by bringing a positive change through my business skills; by keeping everything ethical and according to CSR. I hope to find mentorship and comradery and build lasting international friendships, discussing the importance of sharing and participating in each other's dreams and aspirations. I see the window now, and I dare to dream and aspire to higher education. I want to grow, explore, learn, and find the door; for this gift of inspiration and the ability to dream, I thank my Dad.
