the institutionalization of the conduct of the Unified Numeracy Test which
will be administered to Grades 3-10 students in all public and private
schools of Region VIII for School Year 2019-2020. The unified numeracy
test aims to determine the numeracy levels of the learners in the four
mathematical fundamental operations. To ensure smooth conduct of the
activity, the Schools are advised to strictly follow the attached General
Guidelines on the Administration of the Unified Numeracy Test.
F. Objectives
1. To determine the mastery level of the learners on the four
fundamental operations.
2. To formulate interventions to non-numerate learners.

1. What is
numeracy?
Numeracy is the ability to
use mathematics in
everyday life.
Numeracy involves skills
that aren’t always taught
in the classroom – the
ability to use numbers
and solve problems in real
life. It means having the
confidence and skill to use
numbers and
mathematical approaches
in all aspects of life
2. Institutionalizing
of the Conduct of
the Unified
Numeracy Test
The Regional Unified
Numeracy Test is
intended for Grade 3 to
Grade 10 learners in all
public and private schools
in DepEd Region Vlll. It
shall measure the
learners' competencies
on the four fundamental
operations in mathematics
(addition, subtraction,
multiplication and
division). Junior High
School Learners shall only

 Numeracy is understanding how Math is used in the real world
and being able to apply it to make the best possible decisions.
2. Methodology
 The event started with a short program.
 The teachers were very participative.
 The teachers answer the numeracy test sincerely.
 The checking of test papers followed.
 100% the teachers are highly-numerates.
